Players who might improve us

We need a LB, a CM, a Winger/inside forward and a forward in the summer.

And two or three of those players need to be starting 11.

I’d personally go for:

Alaba (free)
Auoar (50m)
Haaland (85m)
Mbappe (£150m) - okay this one is probably unrealistic.

We’d be back to smashing the league again.

This is sounding like fantasy football. Don’t like this robotic approach of buying the best, so manufactured boy band esque. What happened to our “holistic” approach?

Mid table mediocrity, that's what happened.

Mbappe is out of reach but Little Alf is not, he is very gettable if very expensive and then you have Raiola in the mix.

It's seen us slip from Centurions to struggling against West Brom and for goals in general.

We've lost most of our best players at a similar time, and replaced them with holistically sourced average players. Players good enough to get us back to the levels of Vinny, David Silva, Yaya, and younger Aguero and Fern we need to spend the asking price those sort of players require. You cannot polish a Rodri or Mahrez and turn them into worldbeaters.

We paid top dollar for Rodri and Mahrez. Maybe scouting and recruitment is the problem in the first instance. Can’t go throwing ridiculous sums of money around in current climate. We need to be more savvy in acquisitions. We could have had Bought some of these players earlier at a fraction of the sums now demanded. I’m hoping Dortmund do crap this season and results in a fire sale. Their whole model is to get young hungry talent with platform of top football. If they are out of chumps league becomes less attractive proposition of them being a club to go to.
 
3 players: Messi, Haaland & Saka

We need a new dimension to our attack, while I think Saka could be the long-term solution at left-back

Fernandinho will be moving on in the summer, while I think we could/should let Mahreza and Mendy go to make way for the new signings

I like Saka but not sure he’s a LB. Seems a good utility player but really don’t know his position. We should of made a move in the summer before they renewed his contract.
