For some reason when i tried logging int my hotmail account today it would not accept my password, saying "invalid password", its also not accepting my password for other sites!?
I dont know if this had anything to do with it but i installed widows updates today, now im wondering whether this was some kind of virus or dummy program? sorry im useluss with this kind of thing, im in a blind panic nhow as ive got all of my details etc in my hotmail account. Ive cancelled my card. Any ideas on what i can do?? Cheers! :(

Firstly, how did you access the website, ie, via your favourites or from a search engine?

Usually i sign in from windows live messenger. That didnt work, so i manually put the address in. Ive got a funny feeling its something to do with the "updates" i installed. I cant even find a bloody number to contact hotmail to sort it out! Its doing my head in!

Don't think it's anything to do with updates.

Now, this is a possibility, but not a very nice one... when you typed the address in it's possible that you typed it in slightly wrong & that you got taken to a phishing site that was after your password. The best option would be to open a new hotmail account & report your problem as soon as you can.

The above is only a possibility & is not likely, so don't panic :-)

Im just going round in circles, it just seems impossible to contact hotmail!!! I cant even find a customer services email address for them.

Have you signed up for a new account yet? When you have, log in with your new account then there is an option to contact them or there's a 'help' button you can select.

Right, just signed up to a new account now, and i eventually found somewhere to contact them via email so fingers crossed!!
Thanks Cheesy

Have you tried the "forgot password" link on the sign-in/homepage? You've probably tried it already but you don't mention it so just thought I'd ask. Have the details sent to your alternate email you set up, or secret question/location answer should get you in.

I hope you are not using the same password for these "other sites" you mention? If you are not, as you shouldn't be, and none of them work then....CAPS LOCK? done it many times myself, always feel a bit stupid when I realise what's going wrong ;0

take you caps lock key off ? :) usually the easiest answers are the fixes :)

Apart from that, download CCleaner and clear our everything, passwords, temps files etc and try again.

Yep, ive tried ccleaner. Still no joy. It appears the 2 sites i cant get on to are hotmail and facebook, and yes, they are both using the same login/password. I didnt know whether perhaps it was something to do with me downloading updates. Im not exactly technically gifted! Ive set a new email account up now and emailed my problem, if they get back to me is another problem.
As for resetting my password, it asked me for a security question "childhood friend", i set this account up about 10 years ago and ive tried every "childhood friend" i can think of!!
This is doing my head in!

Still no joy :(. Im convinced ive been hacked! Hotmail or facebook aren't getting back to me! Bricking it! Any further suggestions or help appreciated!

The Koobface Worm
We're currently helping our users with the recently discovered "Koobface" worm and phishing sites. If your account has recently been used to send spam, please visit one of the online antivirus scanners from the Helpful Links list, and reset your password here.

It doesn't sound too difficult to sort out from what I've glanced at so far but be careful when deleting files. hope you get it sorted.
