To my knowledge there has never been strikes about our pension reforms which have universal support from all parties.

You miss the point.

The UK population are supine and the political party's know this.

The French on the other hand are prepared to stand up for themselves.

The EU did wade in...they said the UK had broken the EU/UK treaty provisions.

France (an EU state) in dispute with UK (a non EU state), will see the EU backing a member state.

As for the dispute, Brexit has screwed Jersey fishermen, so Jersey is trying to exert some leverage back on...the main export market for their catch. Much like our refusal to grant the EU rep Ambassador status you can safely predict how this will end.

I was referring to the French threat to cut of power to Jersey and the EU’s silence on it. To me it’s just another example of EU bullying, be it by action or inaction.

I’m not entirely sure the UK have broken anything as Jersey isn’t part of the UK.

France’s relationship with the UK or Jersey is largely the business of the French as the UK, like Jersey, is not an EU state. The EU’s collective concern is the management of trade via the two treaties signed with the UK and managing NI.

Jersey was never in the EU, but was treated as being in the EU via the UK membership and now finds itself subject to the shellfish ban, hence they are just as screwed. This has led to Jersey trying to fuck with the people they sell most of their catch to, when instead they should have sat down and negotiated like adults.

Everyone losing their collective shit was yet another inevitable consequence of Brexit and will be replayed on a loop because in France and England bashing one another is popular. The problem the UK has is that while bashing and posturing is popular, the last four years has shown we invariably end up conceding the battle. Which is why we need as much froth and noise as possible to hide this fact.

On the upside, I find it excellent entertainment.

Wrong again. Labour would have compensated the WASPI women. Of course the Tories said it was unaffordable.
