Political relations between UK-EU

We see what we want to see. I've seen a fair bit about how Britain is viewed by the rest of the world, not just in terms of Brexit. Our government are seen as pretty shambolic and untrustworthy in some quarters, not just by individuals but by the people in positions we have to have good relationships with.
I don’t doubt that about government faces, we’ve a circus clown in charge. I just don’t think the UK is in that bad of a position generally and the guy I originally replied to was insinuating there’s something a lot more rotten about the UK than actually is to live here, which I’m not having off someone who doesn’t even live here and reads the endless negativity on this website. People are risking their lives to get here in record numbers, it cannot be that bad.

Obviously not but if things were that bad wouldn’t I or my family and friends notice it?

The guy (or woman) who I replied to, who doesn’t live here, said some pretty strong stuff about a situation they’re not experiencing themselves. Seems ignorant to me.
So you haven’t noticed shortages and rising prices, with quite a few more in the pipeline to come. You haven’t noticed bed blocking in the hospitals because care homes and care companies can’t recruit enough staff so people can leave hospital.. Lucky you.

You can say a load of generalisations like that and completely ignore the pandemic if you wish.

I'm sure that guy will be able to speak for himself but as I understand it he lives in Ireland and I do believe that Ireland has been a bit of a contentious issue post Brexit, you probably won't have noticed as it won't affect you.

I welcome views from outside the UK. It can be informative to see how we look from the outside.

It has but I highly doubt it’s affected him either. His view is on the UK itself it seems and not just the border issues.

Good for you, I don’t particularly like uninformed criticism of my country from someone who’s business it isn’t.

I voted for brexit. Which one of those charming definitions do I fall under?
Good grief. The Brexiteers realise it's shit, most keep quiet, but burst into life when someone mentions the word thick. I'm not sure why that's such a trigger.

Wasn't the point that from outside, we're an untrustworthy laughing stock? So whatever has made us that is their business (avoid us) and our business (lying to the people). Unless of course we are an island nation and if nobody likes us, we don't care.
