there was 2 versions of I never promised you a rose garden in the charts at the same time in the early 70`s, one by lynne Anderson and the other, I think, was by new world
 
Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder and David Parton ? I seem to recall those being hits at the same time in the 70's
 
This phenomenon was relatively common in the 50s and early 60s.
I can only remember two cases but I'm sure there were more.
1955. Unchained melody was a uk hit for Al Hibbler, Les Baxter, Jimmy Young (yes him), and Liberace. Hibbler and Young were in the top 10 at the same time iirc the others soon after may have overlapped.
1961 Wimoweh/ The Lion Sleeps Tonight were in the top 10 simultaneously by Karl Denver and The Tokens respectively.
