Porto v City Pre Match Discussion thread

Couldn't find it anywhere, so here goes. With the weekend break approaching and reflecting that Porto are currently ranked in the Top Five according to the Euroclub Index or something similar, we will need to put out a strong team. If we can hold Porto to a draw, I will be delighted. My prediction is 2-1 to Porto, leaving the tie wide open for next week's return leg.

Call me boring but as it's the away leg I reckon we retain posession and try and hit them on the break with pace. Going forward I think there's more than enough there to make it difficult for Porto.

If we're behind towards the end of the game we can go hail mary and bring on Aguero/Dzeko/AJ or if we're a couple goals up then keep it tight and bring Gaz Baz on.

I predict 2-0 Nasri & Balotelli

Dzeko and Balotelli as our strikers as Edin did not play against Villa until 85th min, Balotelli back from ban. Sergio can rest.

Pizarro was brought in for the Europa league IMO as I think Mancini knows our midfield is quite sacred to our success and risking any serious injuries to Milner, Barry, Yaya for example would be bad for our league campaign. De Jong is due a game.

Nasri did not play until 80th min against Villa so he can play, this goes for Silva as well because there is no games this weekend!

Full on defence for me, cannot afford to conceed if we want to have a chance of winning this cup, Richards and Clichy were rested for this game IMO.

Pantillimon will probabily start in front of Hart and maybe Savic will have the nod over Kompany.

Sky say Yaya and Kolo will join us up in Porto tomorrow as well so all good!!

Very hard to beat them at their ground, unbeaten in all competitions (CL included) this season and also didn't lose a game there last season in the league (not sure about other competitions). A draw would be very useful to take back to Manchester.

Prediction: 1-1 if we play a good team as expected
