Positive thread alert

He has funds? Of course he does but it was his decision not to sell Zaba and Kolarov in the summer.

The long term future of the club is rosy but gone are the days where we will be challenging for the title more times than not and neither will any others if that's any respite.

5-3-1-2-1-2-4-? finishes is as good as it will get for any club down the track if that.

Funny reading some of the posts on here after a defeat. Just read the KDB page, he went from being called the best player in the premier league to a soft wanker who can't hit a straight pass.. hilarious!!

Has Pep even tried that formation?

Not won any of 92 EPL away games where we trailed at half time..
10 points from 21 against Top 8 sides this Season.
One win at Anfield since 1981.
4 clean sheets in 19 League outings.
6 times we've conceded in first 15 minutes.

Is this positive enough for you..
You would have thought that if Pep was as good as some on here think he is that he would have started improving on that shocking set of statistics by now?

By the way he failed to win the Chumps for Bayern which I think was the main reason they employed him.

3 wins in the last 4 and only 2 goals conceded.

Jesus is coming to save us.

Clichy, Navas, Toure, Sagna and Zab are all out of contract shortly meaning we have to strengthen where actually needed for once.

Bony doesn't play for us anymore.

It's a New Year!

Totally and utterly unacceptable to be in this position.

Thankfully we have a manager who knows this more than even us supporters and is the person with the talent and the work ethic and the values to ensure that we will achieve our target over the coming years.

The fact of the matter is we currently have a squad that's too old to compete on two fronts.

Having our annual group of death in the Champions League means 6 more very intense fixtures than either Chelsea or Liverpool have had at this stage.

Zabaletta, Sagna, Kolorov, Clichy, Toure and Delph should all be replaced in the summer with younger, fitter, more powerful and in most cases more talanted players.

Every fan wants success right away but Pep needs and deserves another year before we even begin to judge him properly.

So why does he pick Kolarov and make subs on 88 mins?
I'm a Pep fan but struggling to defend his repeated mistakes

But that's the way he plays! He goes from stormer to stinker in the space of two games. He delivers a staggering performance followed by one where he seems to think his leg will wither if he puts it any where near an opponent.

Have to agree that chasing the game and making changes at 88 mins was strange to say the least. Don,t blame Pep for yesterday as he could not have forseen the whole team playing as poorly as we did.

Shame the us no mention of beating Barca en route to qualifying to the next stage of the Champs League.

Yes the League form should be better but blaming Pep for decades of results at Anfield??

its all about the defence for me, the aging backline will stop us catching chelsea,

if we can get some top quality this jan, who knows , but next season we will be better prepared

One chance concded yesterday and one goal scored against us
However I thought that a better team or if Liverpool players had made better decisions, they would have killed us
Where as up front we created nothing and we looked bereft of ideas
It's been said on here before, we play well with two genuine wide men, so why don't we!

It is crunch time this January, the club and the powers in charge must now realise that defensive targets must be a priority. We desperately need a new CB along with 2 full back players. For me we need to bring in at least one of those 3 and maybe a new CM what with Gundogan being out for the season.

What I am failing to understand is the motivation being shown and the lazy arsed effort of some and the lack of constant form being shown. We showed second half against Arsenal what is wanted, but then revert back to the usual. I only saw the highlights last night and from what I saw it could possibly go down as the worst showing since the takeover, misplaced passing all over from near enough all players.

I honestly think that we are going to see some players leave come the summer and some will be a surprise, because for me they are not playing for Pep at all. I wouldn't care if we got beat last night if the players on the pitch played with commitment, and tried their utmost to bombard the Liverpool goal looking for an equaliser or winner - but they didn't. So we were all left with a feeling of "if only....."

Reading between the lines, does Pep want Sergio ? He has questioned his work rate a few times and at the minute Sergio looks disinterested to say the least, and this season is also showing frustration which has resulted in 2 red cards. The guy is a living legend in our colours, but all this talk of Aubemeyang being a target for Pep cannot be just paper talk. I honestly think Pep wants more from his forward player, something that Aguero at present us not showing.

It's an age issue in general for me.

Yesterday we had

Bravo 33
Zabaleta almost 32
Kolarov 31
Toure 33
Silva 30
Fernandinho 31

6 out of 11 players over 30.

Then we have Clichy 31
Sagna almost 34
Kompany 30
Fernando 29

Too old and needs revamping. Midfield is more of a problem with age for me. Need more energy and legs in there.

Yep - Klopp needed a full seasonn

People can moan about Kolarov all day long but we literally have 2 defenders who are good enough and they are Stones and Otamendi.

hi all. Pep hasn't inherited a team of players like he had at Barca and Bayern. He IS the best manager about but can't turn water into wine. We re being sucked into the media frenzy which is now rubbing their hands as he struggles. He has made a couple of mistakes so far- completely understandable in my view as he gets cosy with the PL and how it works.
Don't worry, this is the long haul. He will lead us to be the biggest machine in Europe. He has funds, knowledge and expertise. I expect a half decent year and then a resounding 2nd season

All good blues, breathe deeply and relax

This thread was in danger of degenerating in to the traditional Bluemoon moan

I totally agree with the sentiment of the OP, the future is bright....

Yesterday was disappointing; but to be honest Liverpool weren't that great either - one shot on target..... Not that the scousers/media/pundits will believe that.....breath deeply

I go back to believing in Pep and our brilliant owners. There are things to put right, it takes time, the regime has changed and it is important to look forward.
