Post Match Thread: City vs Boro

Problem is......Pelle will put his head in the sand after this and blame players being tired, injured etc, etc.......and not attack the issue head on.....we need to make changes fast......question is.......can/will Pelle make the changes needed? also, 10days of the window still open....would/should we try to bring in more help?

We absolutely dominated for the first half, and started the second similarly.
Once the goal went it, everything changed.

We were frustrated, and dropped off for 20 minutes, then rallied towards the end, but got sucker punched.

I thought it was a decent performance from City all in all, however, you can't win games unless you score.

I've said it many times, and I'll carry on saying it... City set their stall out to camp out in the opposition's half, and if a team gets all their men behind the ball, we struggle to break them down.
When it's not working out, we need to sit deeper and invite teams onto us a little bit more to create more space for ourselves on the counter.

As it stands, we are very predictable, any teams who can defend well stand a chance against us. IF we score, then the game opens out a little, but if we don't, we're absolutely prone to this sort of loss.

As good as we are, we cannot keep trying to pass the ball through 10 defenders.

We were far from crap though. I've no idea how anybody could reach that conclusion.

if that was decent i dread a poor performance

Not for me would rather they had a fixture pile up

Losing 4-2 home to a League One side after being 2-0 up with the side they had put gives me a glimmer of hope that we can get something next week.

If you're an optimist, it give hope.
If you're a pessimist, they won't make that mistake twice in a row.

I am top part but I was expecting a response from the Arsenal defeat and the second half performance was unacceptable.

Maxed out on spending unless we sell which i can't see happening again FFP.

Sitting in a pub with a few blokes I used to work with, all Boro fans, I'm showing them some of the posts on here, they can't believe that people are having a pop at Milner. I'm with them on that. They all admit they laughed themselves silly when Ayala handled and fatty Dowd waved play on. I'm not downhearted, I'm going to have a few quid on beating Barca, odds will be great!

Manuel Pellegrini has admitted his concern after watching his side crash out of the FA Cup to Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news/2015/January/City-v-Middlesbrough-Manuel-Pellegrini-reaction" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news/20 ... i-reaction</a>

City were undone by Patrick Bamford and Kike’s second half goals, leaving plenty of space for soul-searching over the next seven days.

The champions travel to Stamford Bridge to take on league leaders Chelsea in a week and Pellegrini admits that he is worried about his team’s failure to score in their last two home games.

“We had six or seven clear chances to score – we played well in the first-half,” Pellegrini declared.

“After they scored, we were disordered, they had a counter attack and they scored again late on.

“Before they scored, we did well – after that, I think Middlesbrough deserve to continue in the cup as they played very well.

“It’s a strange game to analyse – there were two games in one.

“I am concerned, not because of the Chelsea but because we didn’t score in our last two home games.

“We conceded two goals in four of our last five home games – we need to recover our performances, both attacking and defending.”

In the post-match post-mortem which took place in the press conference room in the bowels of the Etihad, Manuel refused to point to the trip to Abu Dhabi as a cause for the defeat.

The Chilean told reporters they could choose that as a reason if they wanted to, but he felt that the recent injuries suffered to his strikers were a more compelling contributing factor.

“The problem is we’ve had to change our style of play – we had no strikers for a month,” he ruled.

“After that, they’re coming back and maybe they needed time to reach their best performances but we have to retain the way we normally play.

“We will start working towards the Chelsea game now… we have no problem with motivation.”

Apparently Manchester United lost at home today not City - so says the Six O Clock News on the BBC. They did not even apologise for the error afterwards.

Borough keeper had a fine game, we appear to have slipped into the poor form pre bay earn home game. That augero double late on kick started our good run but since burley we have slipped back again. Injuries probs need sorting as both Komps and Sergio need a few games to get up to speed.

No more squad players a top level cm attacking goal scoring winger and left back and pellets needs to stop leaving us so open.
