The number of chances, good chances, wasted has been a characteristic of City's game for a good while. We lost last night by a single goal, it could have been more, but we could have given them a good 4-1 thumping. Sterling, Ferny, Sergio, and whoever got that header, think it was Fernando, that Buffon kept on the line, were all good chances that I always think had they gone to other strikers would have been in, and given a second bite each would have netted! One of those games which simply comes down to finishing. We are not deadly clinical! The Juve game at The Etihad was settled by two clinical finishes after we had them by the throat, and last night we had more of the ball, admittedly most of it in our half, but, as is the norm these days, didn't use it. What the secret is, who TF knows? Lap of the Gods, millimetre here, micromillimetre there, and we have a different result.

As for picking up Barca, Real, or Bayern in the two-legged jobby, there will be as many squeaky bums in Madrid, Munich and Barcelona as their will be in Beswick!!

Only saw second half so can't really comment other than to say we looked solid enough but with no cutting edge and always likely to be done on the break. Infact I thought I was looking at a re run of the Academy match earlier in the day. Of the 3 teams mentioned above Madrid might be beatable. Munich and Barca are so far ahead of us we would need an awful lot to go right. But football is strange come Feb/March we might have everybody fit and on form while they might be in the middle of an injury and form crisis. But best 11 against best 11 Madrid offers our only real hope assuming the Fat Spanish Waiter is still in charge. Keep the faith.

These comparisons are obviously pretty nonsensical, given that players play differently in different contexts.

Well you've just named four players there. Would you not have a fully fit and not injury prone Kompany in your squad?

Ok Sevilla away we were great, but late last minute wins v Monchengladbach away and Sevilla at home we got out of jail on both occasions. Juventus at home was hardly a great performance either. Still a long, long way off competing with Europe's elite.

The real shame is the trophy the owners want, and are happy to pursue it at the expense of the Premier League...................and that's there for the taking this season.

It is actually very difficult to "pull up trees" in this competition. We have had to play the teams that finished third in the Bundesliga, won the Europa league and won the Italian league. Many assume that the German league is a one horse race, that the Europa league is a joke and that the Italian league is a Mickey Mouse competition for financial basket cases. These assumptions are totally untrue and insulting in that the conclusion appears to be that there are no other good teams in Germany than Bayern, only two good teams in Spain and any decent Italian teams are but a memory. In fact no English team had ever won in Monchengladbach until City, Seville have beaten both Barcelona and Real in Seville, either side of City's visit and Juve haven't lost one of their last 16 European ties in Turin. In all matches in Europe this season we have been unable to field the eleven we would prefer. Our three wins add up to some considerable achievement, especially when you take into account the struggles of the other English teams in less demanding groups. The PL seems to have problems at the moment in Europe. The level of competition is very high ans is akin to playing fixtures against our own top four every time. I would point out that Bayern have lost in the group stage already and that Barcelona have struggled to beat Bate in Barcelona. Real are not having an easy time of it. These clubs benefit greatly from the seeding, as they always have. In addition, look at last year's competition or any other year's and find a team which has "pulled up trees".

In answer to your point about it being a shame that the owners want to win the CL whereas the PL is "there for the taking", I would point out that it is usually the team with the best players which wins the PL and that this is much easier if you have the best players in the world. In this way you compete with "Europe's elite". Unfortunately such players will not sign for a club which tells them that if they come to City they'll be rested for the CL game with Juventus so that they'll be fresh to play Southampton on the Saturday.

No. He's a good defender, but I'd have Chiellini, Bonucci and (especially) Barzagli ahead of him.

FWIW I understand and appreciate that many in here would disagree, and I don't mean it as any disrespect to City, who are a very good team (and who I generally consider my second team).

Thought that Delph played well again when brought on.He is comfortable on the ball and can go past people and did not, unlike some others give the ball away with a bad pass.Maybe he should have a start.

No chance! And I absolutely detested Allegri when he first signed :)

On that note, I seriously think that City should go for Antonio Conte at the end of the season. He'd turn City (or whoever else signs him) into perennial PL champions and a force in Europe, I have no doubt about that. Magnificent manager.

Juve get the Mandy goal, Sterling scores his sitter, Ferny blasts the ball into the roof of the net and not Row Z, Serge nutmegs Buffon and Fernando heads up and not down and Buffon is stranded! That's 4-1 for me! Joe made three or four 'goal' saves, but if yer count ours and not theirs, it's 4-1 for us!!

Nice in theory but surely if we take the first chance, the ball is re-spotted and those other opportunities you cite never materialise?

I agree. It might not be pretty, it might not be entertaining, but a solid, no nonsense, containing game would have seen us ...(if it was effective)... still sitting on top of the group now. I'm all for our attacking style, but sometimes needs must and last night was one of those times. I'm a very disappointed man today. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Deeply pissed off. Much, much more than last Saturday. Then, we simply weren't at the races, so, nothing to say. Last night, we needed to manage the game. And yet again, we didn't. Just one point. That's all it needed.

Exactly this! Plenty of here taking comfort from the fact we played with more passion and energy than Saturday? What? Those two should be a given every time they wear our fucking shirt. Let me tell you what passion and energy is (and this is not my entry for Blue of the year before anyone starts)..

I missed my 06:50 flight out of Stansted on Wednesday morning, no other flights Wednesday, next one Thursday morning. So I got a train to Liverpool Street, then a tube to Victoria and the express train to Gatwick, to catch a BA flight at 15:40, arriving in Turin at 18:25, made the match with an hour to spare. Got treated like a fully fledged member of ISIS at the turnstiles, about froze to death watching us put in ANOTHER rabbit in the headlights Chumps League performance, then had the pleasure of a 45 minute lock-in for my trouble. So don't tell me that we're happy because the lads put a shift in FFS. Juventus were there for the taking but wrong decision making, piss poor corners (yes, that old chestnut) and poor finishing let us down. Game management? Don't make me laugh, and that comes from the Management team. Save Fern for this game (and fuck up Liverpool in the process), then take him off. He went off we stopped playing. Was he injured? Take off Kun, take away our only goal threat. I know he's not fully match fit, but do you think he'd have missed the Sterling chance. even on one leg he would've buried it..

Juventus got out of jail, they were staring the Europa League in the face with a defeat against us. They were the one's under pressure. They even did their best to help us, constantly giving the ball back to us, offering up chances and we still couldn't put them to bed. Their fans were the one's who spent the whole game on the edge of their seats, knowing ONE goal for us would put their qualification in doubt, especially having to go to Sevilla for the last game. They were celebrating like they'd won the trophy after the game.

Piss poor all round, another opportunity missed and I'm £500 quid lighter.
