Most of my peer group at home wouldn't be bothered about sexuality. I was probably around 9 when my mate's mum split up with his Dad and started seeing a woman instead. My mum had some gay friends and I went to a "partnership ceremony" when I was fairly young as well. As a kid it simply doesn't register that this may not be considered normal by some folks.
Race can be a bit different. There was no excuse where I grew up though, as there was a good mix of multiple cultures and everyone seemed to get on.
