That was my impression too, if he hadn't swung his leg at him as he was falling he would probably have got away with it.I think people are looking at the defenders raised leg. That misses him
The clash looks accidental, even if it does deny him a goal scoring opportunity.
The attacker then starts to stumble, so the defender has another go to trip him.
I don't think it makes any difference as he was going down anyway.
But the intent to trip him again was there regardless. From the other angle, you can see he wraps his foot around the attackers foot. Making sure there is no way he gets to the ball.
Red card for me.
He went for a sly second nibble when he saw the Everton player going past (even though he was stumbling at that point) and that was what made up the refs mind.
He should have had a red but at least their cheating isn't getting the rewards it did last season.
