Premier League Games 25/26/27 August '18

If we were better we would have won but we drew. Their next 4 games is against Leicester, Tottenham, Soton and Chelsea. It will be a tough run of fixtures for them, but win them and they will be the favourites.

They won't be my favourites if they win those.

It's a season of 38 games.

I just don't understand how some folk think...

Don't you realise that in a football match the best team does not always win?

City vs Wolves
Shots 18-11
On target 6-2
Chances 12-10

Liverpool vs Brighton
Shots 22-6
In target 8-2
Chances 19-4

Not completely strange results, if we look at the numbers.
I didn't see the Liverpool game, so I can't comment on how much they controlled the game, etc., but a better stat (I think) than the ones you show is the expected goals (Understat.com). That has Liverpool "winning" 1.83 - 0.54 and City "winning" 1.79 - 1.24. Then if you remove the 0.66 for the Wolves goal that shouldn't have been give (handball or offside - take your pick), it makes the City game 1.79 - 0.58, which is almost identical to the Liverpool numbers.

So I think this supports your point that the results weren't strange or unexpected, based on (at least the shooting) stats - City and Liverpool should both have won, the difference being that Wolves got a dodgy goal and Brighton didn't.

Quite - although I've seen "the best team" defined as "the team that wins" plenty of times (mostly in The Guardian comments section, I think), in which case, yes, the best team does always win... (you'll be shocked to hear it's usually when we were actually the better team, but didn't win)

Just put it on ignore. Never done that before. A strange one indeed.

Exactly, or alternatively allow me to post the subject matter I choose without comment and I, as I always have, will reciprocate. Anyway lets leave it there and not sidetrack the thread anymore.

Big chances 2-2. LIverpool had a handful of half chances though. Momentum was with Brighton in the last 15 minutes. Minor fright.

Klopp saw it coming and acted proactive bringing on Henderson. Very smart move.

Fucking hell how many Liverpool fans have joined blue moon purely to wank themselves off in this thread?

Very strange behavior.
