Premier League Games 25/26/27 August '23

It's an odd one isn't it? They won a European trophy, that much isn't in dispute, but in the scheme of things it was a low grade one.

I'll be honest. I've been following English and European football for more than half a century. Every time I look at the fixtures for the Europa Conference, there are literally teams that I couldn't tell you which country they come from.
Whose idea was it, anyway, to invent the Europa Conference League? And why, exactly?

The Mike Dean thing is crazy in so much as he said he didn’t call for a review to protect Taylor, but then immediately after that game everyone was slating Taylor and Dean for not giving the decision as it was so completely clear.

The ref, linesman and VAR have always been in live communication and whilst PGMOL will tell you that the onfield ref makes the decision alone, the VAR official has always given their immediate thoughts prior to reviews.
But the rules currently state the VAR is not to communicate with the referee about specific incidents (i.e. intervene with decision making) unless they feel the referee should review the decision via video.

So if they are immediately communicating with the referee to give them instructions (or even more information), they are violating their own rules for VAR use.

And, even beyond that, they have just really started to display this long pause this season, with obvious indicators they are listening to someone on the earpiece. It happened occasionally last season, but I have watched many of the matches this season and it is far, far more frequently seen thus far.

All of that alone is a problem (for the same reason Dean’s admission calls in to question how often VARs have made decision based on protecting their mates on the pitch).

I have expounded on this in more detail in the VAR discussion thread, though.

I was going to ask this at the time of the goal but didn’t want to look like a dick but can anyone (genuine question) explain why Casemiro isn’t offside?
It's simple.
The team he plays for are shit.
But the league and sky need them to be successful as it helps sell more slysports and promotes the league to foreign half wits.
So each game decisions will be given to just give them a helping hand.

Keeper punches clear then clatters into the player.
Yet again Taylor shows how corrupt That decision on Eddie at Arsenal was as it’s never been a penalty before or after
Like Stoke’s pen for Sterling holding Peter Crouch at a corner (new non contact directive we were told) , never given before or since

Shouldn't they be singing 'We won the third tier, you'll never sing that.'

Should only be one club in Europe allowed to sing that.
Come on mate, let's not get all red top with this.

They literally are the only club in the league with anything like our gallows humour.

Sing it all day long for me.
