I read somewhere that in a Premier League game the ball is in play for an average of 29 minutes each half
Just have a 30 minute play clock which only runs when the ball is actually in play, job done
Players lining up a throw then leaving it for someone else, keepers wasting time, fake injuries, none of it works any more

what about stopping clock on tv coverage as well as they show replays, player involved, manager, subs and finally the rain as you can quiet clearly hear the game progressing in background

if this was just a normal christmas then it would be fine ? but its not normal and games have been like this all season and having to play 2 games week city must be right up there

The clock would run whenever the ball is in play.
What we see on the screen is a TV editing issue, just like now, which is why we often have to wait a minute or so to see a near miss replay while they wait until the ball is being passed from one defender to another.
They can replay a goal before the restart, or even in a screen in screen box while play goes on.
It’s just an idea so that there would be no benefit from delaying getting the ball back into play.

i was being sarcastic at the poor coverage or editing at present, one game think last season they showed a tree outside the ground while the game was clearly in progress, now ive pointed it out you'll notice it and wind you up
