Well the news was probably always going to come out one way or another as the season nears the end anyway, but the huge song and dance they made about it wasn't necessary before a run-in, in my opinion.

It depends on how you look at it. if they did go on to win it then people would say it was a good move and it inspired them. There's still a long way to go yet before we can say if it had any impact or not.
