President Joe Biden

This argument was lost in the primary process. There is a video where Sanders accepts this defeat and backs Biden. I'd dig it out and post it but i'd be wasting my time. In the same way that you waste your time with this anti Biden stuff on here. No one gives a shit about Sanders v's Biden.

Biden v's Trump is where it is at and you have to pick a side (note anything other than a vote for Biden is basically a vote for Trump). So what's it going to be?
Nail on the head. Honestly, I barely even give a shit about Biden. He was my third or fourth choice going into the primary and is obviously not the future of the party, but seeing how he won the thing in a rout he was clearly the best candidate to go up against Trump and he's who we have now. If he gets elected and is just a normal, not crazy, person I'll be over the moon. Litigating out the exact details of the policy proposals and all that is pointless when you look at who the other guy is.

Agree - if i was a voting American I wouldn't give a shit about his policies. Its way beyond policy. Its a battle for the very basics of a functioning democracy, honesty, respecting the constitution, independence of officials, the rule of law, free and fair elections.

Who the fuck cares about policy detail.

Sanders represented an idea. That idea was here before Sanders and held by Dr King and other prominent leaders. The idea doesn't die because Sanders decided to play ball with the Democrats.

This is something patently ignored by the majority of commentators on here.

It was never Sanders vs Biden.

It was Progressivism vs Neolibralism and corporate greed wins out today.

Well swerved but given that "The idea doesn't die because Sanders decided to play ball with the Democrats" why are you spending these few weeks till November 3rd in fruitless quibbles about Biden rather than on dealing with the clear and present danger to American democracy of a fascist dictator refusing to leave office? Are you going to abstain, or vote for a "progressive" who would split the anti-Trump.vote, or vote for Biden? Or are you a closet Trumper, or think a bit of chaos would pave the way for a socialist revolution?

And there it is.

Probably highlighted a little more than the other posters have done, but the echoes are evident enough to encompass the fellow thinkers. The mainstream media have indoctrinated similar to yourself, so it's not your fault.

You're so focused on individuals when the ideologies are at stake. 'Sleepy/Smilin' Joe', 'The Orange Blimp' and 'Crazy Bernie' are just representatives of what's wrong in the States and in the UK.

I would rather listen to a disheveled person with all the right ideas than a polished one speaking bullshit. One is not thinking of themselves as the thoughts are more important than the appearance of thought.

You could strip this down to ideology as a substance and it holds true.

For example, nobody else on this board blowing Biden's old cock seems to care that Flint doesn't have clean water and both parties are complicit for this affecting thousands of people. They're not bothered by Biden being endorsed by Michigan's "Poisoner-in-Chief" Rick Snyder or bothered that he owes 60 Billionaires something back. Only I've mentioned it.

And these are just a couple of things.

To the majority on this thread, it doesn't matter HOW anyone got here, they're just 'here'. If that premise was held about the Universe, the same many on here would squint suspicion about that thought process!

Anyway, the US kids can see the problems with incrementalism and I'm glad they're not playing ball anymore. They will continue to vote down ballot and force this change even if they vote or don't vote at the top of the ticket.

Good for them.

Point 1 Why did I think Tony Benn and Dominic Cummings as opposite scruffy / disshevelled?

Point 2 What matters is how to move forward from "here". I don't the answer btw but it seems that the majority probably wish things to improve but those currently at the top of the political pyramids (Red & blue) hold all the cards.

A bit like the electorate are bringing a water pistol to a gun fight.

I will say Point 2 is more about lessons learned of the past for future gain otherwise we'll be here again in 4-8 years, battling between neolib shades of dark grey/ black.

We have a similar problem in Ireland, in that the two main parties are two cheeks of the same arse.
We have a Labour Party and Sinn Fein in opposition and independents and smaller left oriented parties.

We have Proportional Representation here and in the last election the two main parties got hammered and almost left the door open for a left coalition.
What did they do?
They went into coalition together. Just about had the numbers.

I don’t fully understand the American system but the first past the post in a two party monopoly doesn’t seem as democratic to me.
