Priced out?

I've never met any of the titular (i.e. board) directors. I've never even met Soriano, which I think says it all.

I've criticised the board as I don't believe it meets good corporate governance standards, as it didn't while John Wardle was Chair. The only executive on the MCFC Ltd board is Simon Cliff. Not the CEO, CFO or COO. At the level of City's board I'd expect at least two of those to be named as directors.

There's no Mancunians or football people. There are 2 Emiratis, an American, an Australian, an Italian and 2 British people, one of whom (John MacBeath) is/was a season ticket holder at Reading.

Why is there no room for City-supporting non-executives like David Bernstein, Sir Howard Davies or former MP John Leech? What exactly does an Italian yacht-maker bring to the table?
This is a big bee in my bonnet about the club.

The PL clubs had the chance to cap player wages and they decided not to do that.

Don’t come to me angain arguing clubs have to increase season ticket prices and match day ticket prices to buy the best players and to pay their wages.

And before any of you have a go back, only Real Madrid and maybe PSG can offer more wages than most PL clubs. Barcelona are skint.

So there wouldn’t be mass exodus of players to other European clubs. Real Madrid nd PSG can only play 11 players at anyone time.

The PFA and the agents were threatening legal action if it went through, it was a non-starter.

Forest v Malmo tickets have gone to general sale. To buy seats together it's at least £60 adults / £25 kids, so it would cost me £110 for me and my 2 kids to see the 19th best team in the Premier league play in the Thursday night cup. I paid a total of £65 for the 3 of us to watch Haaland, Doku, Foden et al play Dortmund.

That much money in the game and they continue to screw folk over :(
Should be max £30 in the PL and a £5 decrease as you drop down the divisions ..............£31 at Bolton on Saturday where they will be charged £20 at ours shouldnt be such a swing especially at our level

Back in the day City used to charge away fans what their club charged us in the reverse or last fixture the previous season.

No general admission football ticket should be more than £35. No GA season ticket should be more than £600 (mine is £965 and isn’t even the most expensive ST at City).

Since the PL broadcasting revenue sky rocketed last decade and has rocketed with each renewal, PL clubs could have significantly decreased and then frozen GA ticketing for a decade with a propaganda drive to show how they’re ensuring core supporters are sacrosanct to the culture of their clubs.

The PL broadcasting revenue is more than the Bundesliga and La Liga’s combined. Clubs wouldn’t have been hindered at all by looking after core supporters with great GA prices.

Charge whatever for hospitality, after that.

The good will and relations enhancement that would have done between clubs and fans would have been huge. Instead, it’s gone the other way and barely any set of fans outside Brentford don’t hate their clubs’ boardrooms and directors for how they’ve treated core supporters. Relations between clubs and fans have never been more polarised. Fans of most clubs feel like they aren’t important in any way shape or form to their clubs.

However, the rocketing of the broadcasting revenue won’t last forever. PL atmospheres are getting worse due to fewer core supporters being in attendance each season, making games feel unimportant to neutral viewers on tele. Also, the quality of football on offer is getting worse, with the amount of ball-in-play being over four minutes a game less than just two years ago, as well as the amount of injury feigning and other forms of cheating, and the terrible standard of officiating… games are becoming mind numbingly boring and most PL games are actually really fucking annoying to watch at the moment.

Eventually, the world will cotton onto this and interest in the PL will dwindle and will divert to another league. And, when that happens, clubs will regret fucking core supporters over.

Probably for another topic this, but I think football in general is starting to become a bit of a shit sport. I actually think the trend of the way play is going and the standard of officiating will send this sport into a bit of a precarious situation in the coming decade. I also think the standard of players coming through into the sport is starting to decline.

Forest beat Liverpool 3-0 and twice won the European Cup and Malmo wear light blue, so it's worth those high prices.

Martyn Ziegler reports for The Times that UEFA have agreed a UK TV deal with Paramount+, Sky Sports, Amazon, and the BBC worth more than £1.6bn over four years from 2027 to 2031.

TNT Sports currently hold the rights to all three competitions, with a deal worth £1bn over three years. So UEFA will be earning £400m-a-year from UK broadcasters from 2027, as opposed to the £333m they bring in currently.

An extra £268mill over 4 years.

Those European Cup wins were a long time ago though (the last being 45 years back) .... but Forest do appear to have turned a corner with their recent form.

Sixty quid seems a lot to ask for an adult ticket though ... and twenty five quid for a kids ticket is hardly cheap.

The cost of a hotel on a Saturday now is a disgrace.I work every second weekend. On my rest days i can get 3 night's in Blackpool for the price of 1 night on a Manchester Saturday.
If i'm lucky i can get a local Travelodge for £50 for one night on a Saturday.
The way they work out the day of the fixtures does not help in anyway as well.
Add on for a 12.30 kick off i have to use two lieu days on the Friday and Saturday.
I have thought to myself if it would be worth it joining the Blackpool Supporters club.

Yep, i spent three nights in a small hotel on Albert Road late last year ( Sat, Sun, Mon) ..... cost me just over £100 for room only, which I thought was pretty good value .... I just used local cafes for grub.

You might be as well to join the Blackpool branch of the Supporters club, they seem to be a well established branch, and offer reliable transport to all or most of the City home games, and you could make some good mates !

Completely agree, that there should be a £25 limit for away fans outside the Premier League.
If that doesn't happen, why don't clubs do a reciprocating price level.
Greedy clubs like Coventry would then have their own fans complaining that they have to pay such high prices, for their away matches...

Bradford charge £28 on the day and £24 in advance.

Even 8 years ago it was £25 on the day and £20 in advance.

Would a wage cap bring down ticket prices?

Maybe not bring them down, but fan groups can say to clubs that ticket prices should be capped in line with the salary cap, only increasing in price any time the salary cap is increased every five years or whatever it might be.
