It’s a football game! He has prior appointments. Not everyone can drop everything to go to Australia. It isn’t as if it would be a day trip.
It isn’t a Coronation or a State Occasion.
I know that Gaby Logan criticised him but it’s ok for her, the BBC (or licence payers) paid for her trip and would she have gone if she hadn’t been paid for, or if she had been contracted to work on the World Athletics Championships?
