Can anyone give any advice for the problem me and 6 others at work have.
We were called in to a meeting on monday to be told that from the 7th of Dec
we are forced to take 3 days off work due to the loss of work.
We were told it will only be for 2 months, but im not so sure.

Now other than the loss of a days pay,i can understand why this has happened.
My issue is that, with over 30 members of staff in the firm,no one else has been
asked to do this.

Are my bosses allowed to do this to just 7 members of staff out of 30?

Are we being discriminated against?

What can we do about it?

Also we have no union at work

Can any bluemooners help?

Thanks GD

Depends initially on your contract. As for the weeks notice, usually when a change of working hours is involved you would go through a 4 week consultation period. depending on your role and that of the other 27 workers ie departments etc would depend on which employees would potentially lose hours, if the other 27 do the same job as you then there should be consistency across the work force. Is this business a large company? If so speak with Human Resources to get clarity. If not get in touch with CAB and scan on line for employment law. Alot of your issues would depend on how long you have worked, what your contracted hours of work are etc.
Hope this helps.

I think you should be asking what the companies selection process is? Why this particular 7 members of staff? There should be set procedures laid down and available to read. As the previous poster suggested, a call to the CAB might be helpful. Hope you get somewhere. Keep us informed.
