Prog Rock Sucked!

X number of hits on a website/app is no indicator of quality. It just proves the old adage about there being one born every minute. I'd love to see how many hits Justin Bieber gets. Would said number of hits persuade me to listen to him? Er, no.
Your ignoring the fact that five of his albums, plus three of his mixtapes have reached number one in the US Billboard charts, and topped charts around the world. He was the first artist on apple to surpass 10 billion streams and 2018's biggest artist on Spotify with 8 billion streams. He was also raps first post bling era superstar and allegedly the first to melt lines between r an b and rap:

Obviously your not a Drake fanboy and neither am I, but some of his work appeals in the broader sense. It's all subjective, be it music, abstract art, food or holiday hotspots with ones mans meat being another mans poison. To say a songs dross can only be delivered from a personal pov standpoint .. unless your The Moons Mickey Most.

If music be the food of love, play on; Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting, the appetite may sicken, and so die. That strain again it had a dying fall: O! it came o’er my ear like the sweet sound that breathes upon a bank of violets, Stealing and giving odour.

Gods Plan: Drake

Just look at all those "one born every minute" sausages having the time of their lives.

I always preferred punk to prog because I have the attention span of a gnat, but I will make an exception for Tool, who are brilliant, although I'm not too arsed about their new album (tbh I don't think anyone is, it's not bad but they'll never beat Aenima or Lateralus). My brother gave me a Tool ticket for my birthday this year - he's a huge fan - and the last time I saw them was in 2006, which is a loooong time between tours. I was made up when they did Hooker with a Penis. They don't half rip off their fans though.

To each his own taste.

Some progressive rock is among my favorite of all time.

King Crimson "Red" for example.

Progressive rock is, to me, a blend of rock and jazz - experimental and at times sublime.

Paved the way how mate? They produced mostly weak sounding songs (especially live ... we just laughed our tips off seeing their first UK tour at the Free Trade Hall. Even as naive 16 year old we wasn't taken in by them )
They ripped off Alice Cooper, the Dolls and the UK true Glam bands, image wise, while managing to lose the tongue in cheek humour of them all for a po faced, taking themselves WAY too seriously shite version.
Style over content...Just like punk. If people were honest, they'd admit it was the image they were into and the music was just a backdrop to their posing. Two years later they all morphed into New Wavers and started poncing about looking like Steve Strange....Then a few years on, they started all walking round in pork pie hats when the Two Tone crap came about...Then came The Smiths and off you all went again...
I'd like to know what music the punks were listening to before punk came about? My money is on Bowie and Bolan.

And that's music is it? A bloke talking over the top of a backing track slightly out of tune whilst waving his hand in the air? There's a bloke down my pub who does that when he's drunk and he sounds far better.
