ELP's Trilogy and Brain Salad Surgery are fantastic albums. I do agree though that a lot of Prog was just tiresome noodling.
I was trying to decide between the Dylan album I nominated and another album which is apparently classed and prog rock (though I don't really see it that way). Maybe next time! It’s a genre I would like to love - but I’m just a basic melody man at heart
Interestingly though we’ve had very few Prog rock nominations in the Album nominations
Mud, Showaddywaddy, The Sweet, Gary Glitter, Mott The Hoople, Bay City Rollers, Slade, Sparks, The Rubettes, Smokie, etc.Like who? Post punk all the number albums 1 of 1980

Sweet, Slade , Sparks were still around after punk, and still are in one form or another. Mud Showaddwaddy Rubettes, Smokie were just pop bands that had a natural life, Punk had nothing to do with it.Mud, Showaddywaddy, The Sweet, Gary Glitter, Mott The Hoople, Bay City Rollers, Slade, Sparks, The Rubettes, Smokie, etc.
Punk finished them all off, stop fuckin' arguing.Sweet, Slade , Sparks were still around after punk, and still are in one form or another. Mud Showaddwaddy Rubettes, Smokie were just pop bands that had a natural life, Punk had nothing to do with it.
No I won't, you're wrong. Punk was great for a short period, but was very short lived 3 maybe 4 years and everything it supposedly killed off was around long after punk, and is still around. As punk itself became more arty and bloated.Punk finished them all off, stop fuckin' arguing.
