Proud Dad

Surprised you got away with taking that picture as well mate. When my lad went a guy called Gary riley was there and no pictures what so ever were to be taken, I even watched him delete a guys pictures of his camera at platt lane taking pictures of his own son

I did notice it said no pics wasnt sure how strict it would be to be honest !! Your lad must be doing really well to have got so far mate best of luck to him and yourself too.

Extremely cold world this one minute you have dreams of your offspring playing on hallowed turf and then a massive come down. eg: My mates two lad's were great young footballer's playing for I think it's Barr hill in the Bury league's and were offered the dog's bollax to come to Maine Rd. He thought he would be living the life of Riley come a few years but it didn't turn out that way there new come stardom elevated them in the £5.00 wrap division instead and they fucked up thinking I like this new way of living.

If your son has got talent nurture it and if need be show him this post as I, like the two kid's I have wrote about above will only have regrets as long as they live.

Took my little lad to his football training this morning one of the coaches works for City and pulled me at the end, wants to send him for some sort of 6 week trial, hes only 5 so I know it doesnt mean anything at all yet but so proud !!

Congratulations! Help him keep up the good fun (hard to call it 'work' when you are 5, eh?!) and enjoy his football. At that age, it is all about passing and control, so have fun with him controlling the ball and passing it back to you.....and teach him a trick! ;-)

It can be a great journey. I played at City, Sunderland, Leeds and Oldham before coming to the States, playing in Uni, and then playing pro for 3 years over here.

Just be sure to help make it FUN for him by being supportive, because there are so many fathers who try to live vicariously through their kids to fulfill their OWN dreams.

ALL the very best to your son!

Cheers Neil, I just leave him to play his game I wasnt the best player in the world so my advice probably aint that great although Im learning and getting into coaching at his local club too. I must admit I need to get out with him more kicking a ball about but I only have him 3 nights a week two of which are school nights so by the time Im home from work etc its almost time for his bed !!

I'm just starting a new U'10's (next season) team daarn saarth, managing at a club my boy has been at already for a couple of years. Its Watford friendly league and he went from being in top div 1 to div 4 (out of 6) where he done well. He deserves to play at a higher div. so for my sins have taken the plunge after helping out (saving) his last team.

The other x2 U'10s teams at our club are both in the top div. but have full squads. He's a good player, strong, big and quick with a very left foot but his co ordination sometimes is wobbly to fuk but his right peg is slowly starting to wake up!

Because its a good club the catchment is fine so I've already got 9 players and need 1 more for a squad of 10 playing one more season of 7 a side b4 it goes to 9's.

All the best to all Blues whose lads are embarking on the grass roots adventure, just remember don't give the manager too much stick if he takes your lad off or only gives him 10 or 20mins, they'll be a reason for it right or wrong;)
