Alright blues

My brother is a Baggie fan coming up for the game tomorrow with 5 of his mates (they're all good lads). They're looking for a somewhere to have a few pints, watch the early games and some friendly banter. Naturally they'll want to sing a few songs if Villa go down. Any suggestions?

Yes, don't post it in the transfer forum :-)

Weatherspoons in Piccadilly is O.K. with away fans, usually a good crack with the Blues in there as long as they're not gobby dickheads ,might be an idea to hide their colours until their past the bouncers though

There's no actual away fan pubs so probably better in town. Print works?

Beer keller at the Printworks. Footage on oxford road. Tib street tavern but may be a bit cosier, they will all have footy on. Then you get loads of snidey pubs dotted about with smaller tv's and that. I can't see you having any trouble at all with a few west brom fans as long as you use the slightest bit of sense. I mean fuck me imagine a City or united fan in town taking exception to a couple of WBA fans singing at villa going down at 3 o clock in the afternoon. S'pose some sad twat might take exception to Micah or Lescott going down but I'm pretty sure you'll be fine mate. If you're getting into town via picadilly train station the Green is a good bet (2 mins walk), plenty of screens for the footy in there, you usually get City fans in pre and post game but no dickheads, 15 min walk to the ground from there (and they can practice their swing if they want) or obviously jump a taxi or walk back to picadilly and get a bus or tram

pie and ale will probably have the games on, good food and a good range of beers easy for catching a joe to the ground or walking up? turks will have the game on and a if as predicted the weather is nice a decent roof garden, tib st tav also. all these pubs are on the right side of town for getting to the ground

I went i pie and ale the other week mate it's a good little bar if a touch difficult to find. Do they just have the footy in the side room though? It was a big screen but very narrow. The main room had a function on I think so not sure if they usually have footy on in there?

The main bar and eaterie is the narrow room has a screen and in the other side the beer hall as they call it has 2 screens normally have 3 o'clock game on a dodgy channel too .

Cool may have a bit of that, it's become a pretty busy blue bar before home games was full on derby day, nice that places like this and the fringe bar, crown and kettle are being classed as blue pubs when at home or away,

Would you say there's a clear divide on match days in town now?
For instance on 'derby day', would the northern quarter and around piccadilly be blue with deansgate and that end of town red?
