It's not great. It's a rabbit hole down which vulnerable people fall. There are plenty of stories of people going off the deep end, threatening violence, ruining relationships with their partners and families. Someone feeding an alternate reality to people, on such 'vital, world changing issues', in a form which is clearly designed to push buttons that will provoke outrage and disgust, other strong emotions, obsessions and psychological defenses... if they are doing it with the clear intention or knowledge that some people will swallow it and hold it close to their heart, I think they have to bear responsibility that some of those people will inevitably be unable to accept the normal reality of people about them.
Unfortunately this stuff is only a concentrated version of the propoganda people are being fed. Psychological profiling and other techniques used by the likes of Cambridge Analytica were always going to become available. The methods by which to wind people up until they can't stop, don't want to question what they are hearing, have been widely understood since at least the Second World War. Somewhere along the line, people who should have taken a step back and remembered the lessons of history just turned a blind eye, and took the wealth and power that was on offer.
Fuck em. They aren't daft. They will know many of these techniques were pinpointed and studied in Hitler and others. Obviously that didn't cause them any moral concern at all.
Perhaps it was always going to happen. But we'll be cleaning up this mess for decades.
