I agree it seems like it’s going to be much quicker and more accurate. The problem in this match is the system has flagged an offside that 90% of humans wouldn’t have spotted (perhaps not even referees).

I get people’s reservations with that but are we going to start ignoring offsides that are hard to spot just so it makes people feel better?
agreed.

What I like about it is it also removes any team biases (in theory)

One of my pet hates is players disrespecting the referees. It happened a few minutes ago when a Qatar player knew he was being cautioned. He turned his back on the referee and walked off, leaving the referee to brandish the card to the back of the retreating player.

Disrespectful from the player, and the referee loses face too, for letting him get away with that nonsense.

it's semi automated, the ball will ping twice for a ricochet the VAR official just picks the right ping and the computer does the rest. It's offside, all the evidence says it was offside. Whether it's harsh or not is debatable but the rules are the rules
We haven't had the evidence just a CGI image with all the other players taken off, which was out of kilter with the real time pictures.

The pics leading up were very far away so impossible to tell.

It took seven minutes to be able to show why, and even the pic they showed the keepers bum still played him on, and that is their delayed freeze frame below. You can't see the right leg of the number 11. Screenshot 2022-11-20 175314.jpg

They also removed the ball as he looked behind it. The keeper, the number `19 and the ball not included on the CGI they show. 100% not convinced.

Paper over that ye gravy trailing cunts...biggest non event ever.
