totally embarrasing overreaction, from people who expect we will win every single game between now and the end of the season.
Something last nights game does is give us that loss out of our system. We got beat, it was bound to happen at some point and out of all the games we have over the next month or two last nights was the one we could afford to lose.
Next time, we face the Harry Kane team without Harry Kane.
I think this is fair.
I'm still disappointed about last night. But not because we lost.
I'm disappointed because Pep has made the same mistake again that he has made in the last two years in the CL. 3 if you could that ridiculous 3 at the back and dropping Muller for Bayern vs Barca - he's overthought it.
If that was a league game last night and he needed to rotate players and play that 11, no doubt in my mind he would have played 433 and we would have steamrolled them. But instead we play some bizarre 442 / 334 hybrid which we've never played before. The players didn't know what they were doing.
It's like in the CL knockouts he can't relax, he can't trust what's been working. He thinks he has to find an edge. Throw in a curve ball that the opponent didn't see coming. It's like he thinks this is what he's been paid for.
But the truth, is that if we'd played our normal shape, everyone knows what they're doing, they're relaxed. Monaco, Liverpool or Tottenham couldn't live with us. But by playing some ridiculous shape the players are unfamiliar with, it opens the door for the opponents to beat us.
I still think Pep is the best coach of all time. I just wish in the big CL games, he'd have a little more trust in himself to stick to what works.
