Queen Elizabeth II

It's a flawed system, but at the very least, it's democratic. If the vast majority of the electorate were Labour leaning in their ideals, then Labour would be in power. It's as simple as that. It may seem illusory, but it's a form of democracy.

Nobody in this country has given our new "King" a mandate to rule as head of state. That isn't right; and it can't be sugarcoated with flimsy adjectives like "continuity" and "tradition".
It is a form of democracy, I’ll accept that.

The head of state cannot instruct the pm to do anything , she used to get a red box every morning so she knew gov business so she knew what was going on with the country but she had no say , cerimonial only
Ceremonial just as it should be.

You are amazing.

You literally won't even read something if it goes against your narrative, you just pretend it says something else that suits you.

So those reports were bollocks ?

No disrespect but I am finding some of this total over reaction from the police rather troubling man arrested for heckling prince Andrew Since when did this country turn into Russia.
Interesting headline from the Torygraph

I am no royalist and believe that there is a time and place for protesting against them. But do we really need this approach I thought all these tories were anti woke and for freedom of speech?

The business I work for have 2 Royal Warrants as we supply the Royal Household goods and services.

We've just been told apart from a couple of essential departments which need to stay open the rest of the business (including the department I work in) will be closed on Monday

Apolitical .... except for matters of self interest

70 years and this is the best that they could come up with in terms of dishing up dirt on her?

Pathetic really how these little attention-seeking lefties can’t accept the fact that she was a fantastic head of state who acted selflessly and for the benefit of her country, and who was widely respected by the public in turn.

Hopefully Klanfield and we get a point each!
Don't want to distract the thread (perhaps this comment should be on the Liverpool thread) - but I believe that there will be a minute's silence and a playing of the national anthem at all next EPL game - I hope that the inevitable booing by those lowlifes get properly reported

It's a bank holiday. Why go in?

Anyway, do the shoemakers Lobb & Co still have their royal warrant as "Cobblers to the Queen"?

They will. The reaction to any dissent will be magnified to the max. They know this.

People can’t report how they find their own towns to have reacted without being jumped on. Can you imagine the reaction to any booing anywhere?

They'd probably be in court on a public disorder charge too.
