Question about itunes

Does any clever type out there know if itunes can be used with more than one device?
I was thinking of getting an iphone but as I already have an 80g ipod I wouldn't need it for music. I would want to upload the applications but would this affect my existing ipod in any way?

No it should work fine. As no apps work with normal Ipods so it just wouldn't sync 'em.
