Question Time

One thing I haven't heard yet, because we can all criticise and often do, is what actually is an acceptable response to what Hamas did to those men women and children.

Tell the residents of Gaza of Gaza to leave and provide safe exits for them to leave - even if it means they go into camps in Israel. They will flatten Gaza then rebuild it with new settlements - they will not miss that opportunity. Allow Palestinians if Gaza to leave then go in - anyone of fighting age left can then be considered Hamas

I'm not sure how practical that is mate. Its a bloody awful shit show. I just see on the news calls for evacuation, I hope people get out because this means only one thing to me. Its going to be a wasteland of death and destruction.

I agree but I also find that these silly tweets are mainly published by those who are on opposing sides.

Personally I don't know this guy and he mentioned another tweet where he corrected someone attacking a Muslim stance. I gather those having a pop have all missed this tweet otherwise for balance it would have been put out there as well.

We have had this thread many many times but the actions of Hamas to start and the reaction of Israel in the days and weeks that follow will be hugely controversial.
Silly tweets? It's outright racism by a prominent public figure who the BBC are employing! In your quest for balance I think your overlooking this fact! There was no balance from the BBC in getting a Palestinian voice on the program

Saying much of is outright racism?

Way to go to prove my point about side taking.

Google and other search engines have not been my friend!
So I ask the question here: If an elected MP chooses not to take up their seat in the Houses of Parliament can they still draw their pay?
Members of Parliament are not obliged by parliamentary rules to attend the House at any time. Political parties may make demands of their MPs, but that is a matter for them. Therefore no records are kept of an MP's attendance at Parliament

Yes. Sing Fein never attended the HoC when elected.

The MP‘s party might step in and that potentially could lead to a suspension. Anything over 10 days triggers a by-election. Not sure that’s ever happened though.

Their constituents could force a recall of their MP triggering a by-election too.

Thank you @mexico1970. I just don’t believe they can get away with that. I suppose they would say they are working in their constituency but to me that doesn’t mean they are working FOR their constituents!
Maybe I’m naïve.
Thank you again. I had only looked for if they didn’t take their seat didn’t think to go further than that.
