Queues

I have to travel from North Wales and arrive at the ground about 1.30 hours before kick-off as I have to make sure I leave enough time for traffic accidents etc

I wander round and see large numbers of people hanging round the bars and cafe at City square

I go into the ground with about 50 mins to go before kick off and there are no queues at that time so I am not sure why people have to stay in City square until 20 mins before kick off the club have said there are likely to be queues so it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone...as for the checks they are pointless as they don't pick up keys mobile phones etc so I am not sure what would register with them

Travel from Newcastle did exactly the same yesterday had pie n pint in the ground no queue whatsoever

If you were cynical you might say the slow search is a ploy to get everyone to come earlier therefore spending money on the crap they serve inside.
Like others I queued at Z1 yesterday and missed the KO.
As soon as they kicked off the queue got remarkably quicker.
A lady came along the queue and checked bags and the security guy was waving the scanner abut like a conductors batton.

Absolute joke outside Z yesterday.
The stewards were just standing by having a good laugh with themselves.
thankfully weather was dry but 30 minutes to get in to miss the 1st 10 mins

many bring it on themselves though by deciding to stay in City Sq having a beer or two and leaving it too late to see kick off. You know that searches (albeit poorly done) will be undertaken and will take time. It aint gonna change whilst we have high security threats in the country, which probably means it will be like this now forever.

Saw a security guard outside Y entrance yesterday scanning a 4 or 5 year old girl. Utterly fucking stupid.

Old men in there 70's getting a serious pat down, its fucking hilarious.

I'd spot a terrorist from a mile away, but PC gone mad you got to treat everyone the same.

Security is commensurate to the threat, security level in the UK is currently at severe. They only want one chance to get their ideology on every news stream in the world, unfortunately a place like the Etihad is a prime target for them. I was also in the queue yesterday for a while however, I dont mind and will get there earlier next game to avoid the inevitable long queues.

IMO it's a lose lose situation for the stewards. Just let any Tom, Dick and Harry wander into the ground via half arsed checks, something goes wrong (God Forbid) and they would get slaughtered.

They carry out thorough searches and it's going to take time to check 50 odd thousand fans, which pisses people of.

We unfortunately live in a society now where single idiots have spoiled it for the masses. I think we have to accept that this sort of security will be at the fore front of all large public events now. It's sad, but an unfortunate reality in the world we live in.

The queues themselves are a huge security risk.

I wouldn't mind if it was Airport style security outside the ground but it has to be done properly, safely and efficiently - more turnstiles, more highly trained staff and a bit more common sense I.e sitting City Square early
