Anyone tried and had sucess? I quit cigarettes, 12 years ago, it was difficult. Had to stay away from the pubs when my mates went out for 2 reasons. 1. I'd get drunk and buy cigarettes. 2. I'd not but smokes but get blind drunk because instead of bringing a cigarette to my mouth I'd bring my beer there. Was a process but I've done it.

That bring said, I picked up spit tobacco, dip, chew, whatever you wish to call it. I like it better than I ever liked smoking and it is a cast iron woman to quit.

Yep,best help i got was when the smoking ban in the pubs were enforced although i then needed an alternative activity in the pub to distract me and became addicted to fruit machines, but they were a bastard to light.

I smoked for 25 years then quit, havent had one for 20 years, its a woman at first but after 6 months I was fully unaddicted

I used the nicotine chewing gum for about 3 months which helped a lot I feel

My mate carried on and still smokes and the other week I worked out Ive saved about 30 grand compared to him

I want to post a pic of post jaw cancer surgery but don't know how to do the spoiler alert so will walk away. Shouldn't be too hard to walk away seeing such shit but at the same time completely hypocritical on my behalf as I drink too much, party too hard, ski too fast without a helmet, whitewater kayak, decisions we make that are all life threatening. Good luck with quitting, hear it's not easy

Smoking ain't good for you. But fuck it, it's up to you. None of us have the right to proclaim that 'our choice in life is best'. Cancers are horrendous, fatty arteries through obesity are equally horrendous, lack of vitamins and sustenance due to anorexia is horrendous, frostbite leading to loss of limbs whilst trying to discover new islands is horrendous. Selfishness or ignorance contributing to the death of another person is horrendous. Self-proclaiming preachers are more than horrendous ;-)

Do what you do, and try to be happy.

Stopping drinking, smoking, going on holiday, horseraces, gambling, football, buying new cars, TV subscriptions, movies, theatre, meals out and almost all pastimes or preferences that may give you pleasure will also save you lots of money...just sayin' like ;-)

As Nimrod.
I used full strength patches then slowly weaned off from them.
Ignore the time schedule on the box, it takes much longer.
Indeed even if you stayed on patches for the rest of your life it is far far healthier than continuing with tobacco.
I found the physical addiction was beaten quite quickly, a matter of weeks. The psychological addiction took much longer.
I beat them. Now over 12 years since I last had a smoke.
I now can't stand the smell BUT every once in a while I still think I could murder a fag. Just for a second then it goes.

I used to put the money in a jar and then periodically spend it on something outrageously extravagant that I would never have bought otherwise.

I know that feeling very well mate, its a fleeting feeling and it just.....goes

I remember when I stopped I had to avoid the places I really enjoyed a fag, like going for a coffee (I stopped having a coffee when out)

Its hard for 3 or 4 months but the craving disappears, now I just hate the smell, best thing I ever did though.

Poundland do 'Galpharm Nicotine Replacement 4mg Lozenges', 36 in a pack, all minty and that.

Been smoking over 25 years and i'm using them now, they are working a treat, don't suck a full one though it blows your head off, 4mg's is 4 roll ups in 1 - split them in half and you can go 2 -3 hours without a hint of withdrawl.
