29th March - 11th April

Man City
Wigan (Home)
Burnley (Away)
Birmingham (Home)
Spurs
Sunderland (Away)

Our next 3 games are crucial in my opinion. In the same time Spurs only Play Sunderland away which, in there good run of form i wouldn't be suprised if they claimed the 3 points. Should they do so along with us winning all 3 of the above games, then we would be 1 point above Spurs. However, they would have a game in hand. Should we fail to win all of our next 3, we would fall behind spurs while they would have a game in hand, leaving them in a healthy position leading into thier difficult fixtures. Any points dropped against Sunderland away next week and we could find ourselved 3 or 4 points ahead having played a game more.

14th April - 24th April

Man City
Man Utd (Home)
Arsenal (Away)
Spurs
Arsenal (Home)
Chelsea (Home)
Man Utd (Away)

This is where Spurs make up there game in hand at this point with a midweek game against Arsenal. Anything Spurs do against Arsenal at Home, i feel we have to match or better 3 days later against Man Utd at Home. Then we have to rely on Chelsea and Man Utd to beat Spurs. If so then we can afford a loss against Arsenal. I actually predict Spurs to pick up a point against Arsenal so i feel atleast a draw is necessary against Man Utd. Should either team pick up a nice suprise win in any of the games then it puts them in an excellent position. Providing we won our first 3, the teams should still be neck and neck after these games having played the same games.

1st May - 9th May

Man City
Villa (Home)
Spurs (Home)
West Ham (Away)
Spurs
Bolton (Home)
Man City (Away)
Burnley (Away)

The final games of the season for Both sides see us playing Aston Villa when Spurs play Bolton at home, this for me is now a must win as Spurs should comfortably beat Bolton at Home. This obviously depends on the situation from the previous games but i suspect both teams will still be within 3 points touching distance leading into these games. Then the big one against Spurs will leave us needing a win to seal it or overtake Spurs. Should we be ahead on points before the Spurs game then a draw wouldn't be the worst result leaving us with a game against West Ham to seal 4th spot. All in all i think it is too close to call who will finish 4th. Both teams have difficult away games in the final game that could leave either side needing a win to stay up from relegation. Hopefully West Ham have sealed safety by this point. Anybody counting us out only need to look at how close to two teams could be leading upto the final game against each other.

those games against villa and spurs are must wins......nothing else will do

If we are above Spurs leading into the game the a draw wouldn't be a disaster, if you offered me a win against West Ham to finish 4th right now, i wouldn't even have to think about it.

I got back from holiday last night and traveled up to manchester from heathrow on the same BMI flight as Phil Thompson. I cheekily asked him if he still fancied liverpool for 4th, he shook his head 'no chance' he said, city should edge out spurs he reckoned....

Also, despite his affiliations, a thoroughly nice chap.

You forgot about liverpool? Not a wise thing to do, especially when they are 2 points behind us..

Either way to get it we'd have to finish above Spurs, so i didn't forget about anybody.

Youve got to add Liverpool to that list!

altho they've played more games, they've got quite a few winnable games left - next 3 up to the 11th Apr:
Sunderland
Birmingham
Fulham
(easily 7 points, possibly 9!)

Thereafter:
West Ham
Burnley
Chelsea
Hull
(easily 9 points, possibly 10!)

That would give them from 16-19 points ontop of what they have now, which is 67-70 points!

We will only realistically (no Bridge, no Lescott, possible further suspensions and injuries which will undoubtedly occur, we've got to play United Arsenal Villa and Spurs!!) get 67-70 points ourselves!

I reckon we'll get:
Wigan 3 points
Burnley 3
Birmingham 3
United 1
Arsenal 0
Villa 1/3
Spurs 3 (MUST WIN!!!)
West Ham 1/3

that's 15-19 points which will get us 68-72 points overall!

Spurs have:
Sunderland 1
Arsenal 1/3
Chelsea 1
United 0
Bolton 3
Us 0
Burnley 3

that's 9-11 points which will give them 67-69 points!

WHAT AN EXCITING END TO THE SEASON!!!
As the OP said the next 3 games are massive for us! if we can pull out 9 from9 points we could go from strength to strength!

I'm with u on this been saying to my mates at work that if we don't get 4th it will be Liverpool 6 out ov there last 7 games they could and should win but Liverpool have been poor all season and could still drop points I would be very suprised if Spurs finished above us the 3 games against Spurs the rags and Chelsea have come at the wrong time for them as there all fighting for the title they wont get many points from these games. I just pray to god we finish 4th be a very exciting summer if we do :)

Next week could be the turning point in the race for the champions league. Aston Villa have Bolton away which will be very tough for them and if they lose/draw that I think there out of it, Liverpool have a tough game against birmingham and Spurs have a trip to Sunderland. If spurs and liverpool dont win and we beat wigan and burnley that would put us in pole position but if we dont win against burnley and spurs win against sunderland it will be very tough for us to overtake them.

Liverpool should finish 4th now as I expected, the front wheel skids and us are battling for 5th, and a sorry battle it will be as both teams will drop half the points on offer. Our crap midfield has cost us dear!

Games are running out and they aren't exactly playing well themselves. Okay they beat a sunderland side today that were poor but they haven't exactly shown me anything to suggest us or Spurs can't beat them to 4th.

My assesment has it close and down to the 1 game between us, draw or win for us has us 4th

spurs have a decent chance of beating sunderland even away

villa at bolton is a tough one especially after this weekends result

liverpool are back in form and i can see them winning the majority of their games

i think we have too many games where we may get a draw (utd, spurs villa to name 3 where we may drop points)

Unless liverpool pick up any injures to torres or gerrard they could finish above us

we must win the next 3 games to give us a good base before we go into a run of games that are about as hard as they get
