I was going to post this in the US Politics thread - but on second thought, I think that Maddow deserves a thread of her own... at the least because discussion of Maddow would detract from the broader US political discussion thread, especially from those who don't know or don't care about her.
Anyhow, here goes...

I've been a huge fan of Maddow after watching her MSNBC broadcasts.
Recently, though, Sam Sender, of "The Majority Report," fame (you can watch his podcasts on Youtube if you're interested), remarked about Maddow, that they had a (I'm paraphrasing from memory here) "distant personal relationship: due to their differing political views and other issues.
During the discussion, Sender characterized Maddow as a careerist... implying that she'd toe the company line in furtherance of her career even when this stance conflicted with her personal views.
I didn't think much of Sender's remark upon first hearing it - but then, this...

In a misguided attempt to attract increased viewership, NBC executives decided to hire ex-Republican National Chair Ronna McDaniel as a political commentator. For context - McDaniel is an election denier and is a 100% MAGA Republican.
The hiring of McDaniel by NBC is misguided, because it lends credence to MAGA Republican's baseless claims about election fraud and about the Jan 6 attack on the US Capitol. It's simply an attempt to make more money and increase viewership - nevermind the tacit bothsidesism tacit in this decision. There is no both-sides: the 2020 election was fair and free; the Jan 6th invasion of the US Capitol was not a peaceful demonstration by American patriots.
As this fiasco played out, McDaniel was eventually not allowed to appear as a commentator - due to massive pushback by MSNBC personnel as supported by public media.
Maddow then appeared on air in her show and praised MSNBC leadership for having the fortitude to reflect on their decision to hire McDaniel and then to conclude that they were wrong.
Which brings me back to Sender's take on Maddow - careerist.
I'm not a fan of Sender - his politics are too far left for me - and his "Majority Report" show strikes me as mostly unbalanced in reporting - characterizing events in the best light for (far) left-leaning viewers.

And then, I watched this episode of Keith Olbermann's, "Countdown," podcast:
Now... I'm still a fan of Maddow's. And I still think that Sender colors his "Majority Report" show to such an extent that it's unreliable. But I don't trust Maddow nearly as much as I used to: Maddow is, in fact, a careerist.
