Michel Platini.....taxi please

Well it didn't take long for the racist abuse to start did it, as reported this morning the Dutch have been subjected to monkey chants towards there players during their 2nd training session. Dutch captain Van Bommel mentioned in his press conference of the abuse, however some journalists stated that they could not hear any such abuse!!!!!

However Martin Lipton, from the Daily Mirror, is in Krakow and told BBC Radio 5 live there was a large number of Polish fans involved in the abuse.

I for one believe that what Balo stated if he is subjected to such abuse ( by saying he will walk off the pitch) is correct, we are now in 2012 and it has NO place in society.

Platini however has retorted by saying that any player leaving the pitch will be either yellow or red carded - fantastic message that eh....

As written by the BBC's David Bond - "Over the next month Ukraine and Poland will be in the spotlight in a way they have never encountered before. Should it go wrong then the reputation of Uefa and its ambitious French president will also be on the line."

I just hope that if racism does play a big part in this tournament then it will force Twatini's hand and make him walk.

I wont be holding my breath though!

Re: Michel Platini.....taxi please

Well said, agree though that Platini is already trying to distance himself from any such abuse aimed at players.

Even Schevchenko on the BBC report stated their is no abuse at grounds in the Ukraine!!! are some people blind or what. I know that some people think that bringing a tournament to a country can sometimes help change, but I think after the report by the BBC earlier this month shows just how much of a massive issue it is in both these countries.

I am not saying all natives of these 2 countries are racist but it does seem that it is held with the majority of there supporters.

I have a feeling that if both Poland and Ukraine go out in the group stages then it may well escalate because what else will their fans have left to do!. If they decided to go along to the dutch training session just to show their disapproval of their players using their stadium....well it doesn't look good for the next few weeks.

I wish i could say im shocked :<

Platini is a disgusting man who seems to be able to pck and choose what parts of football he concerns himself with, mainly the nice shiny bits of it.

Well done Poland you just reinforced a stereotype your still knuckle dragging apes.

Platini is like Blatter, everyone knows he's a clown without the required intellect to actually perform the job he's gained, yet he'll have enough cronies in his back pocket to keep his job secure. No doubt come the next FIFA "election" (and I use that word loosely, quite how you can have an election with only one party to vote for I'll never know) he'll be the nominated Blatter replacement and can REALLY screw the game.

Holland's black players were allegedly subjected to monkey chants during an open training session in Krakow on Thursday night, with captain Mark van Bommel branding the abuse "a real disgrace" on the eve of Euro 2012.

The Oranje players were allegedly targeted by Polish fans as they began their practice session at the Stadion Miejski. Van Bommel, who along with his team-mates visited Nazi German concentration camp Auschwitz, responded by leading the Dutch squad to the far side of the pitch, before hitting out at the perpetrators and vowing to take the issue to UEFA.

Quoted in several newspapers, the PSV Eindhoven midfielder said: "It is a real disgrace, especially after getting back from Auschwitz, that you are confronted with this. We will take it up with UEFA and if it happens at a match we will talk to the referee and ask him to take us off the field."

He added: "You need to open your ears. If you did hear it, and don't want to hear it, that is even worse."

Bert van Marwijk's side begin their Euro 2012 Group B campaign against Denmark on Saturday.

The issue of racism has been a hot topic in the build-up to the tournament, with a much-publicised BBC documentary raising concerns over the conduct of some fans in the host nations.

UEFA president Michel Platini has confirmed referees have been instructed to call a halt to matches at this summer's tournament if a player is racially taunted. Yet the Frenchman also warned any player who left the field unilaterally in protest over abuse from the stands would be yellow carded.

Italy and Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli had earlier said he intended to do exactly that if he found himself being racially abused.

Former England centre-back Sol Campbell, meanwhile, was compelled to advise fans to avoid the tournament after seeing the Panorama images of supporters in Ukraine giving Nazi salutes and taunting black players with monkey noises.

Meanwhile, the families of black England players Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have declined to travel to watch the matches because of fears over racism.

Not sure if already posted.

Re: Michel Platini.....taxi please

Have to agree....the game will be screwed if takes over at FIFA......the only good thing that may come out of it is the possibility of breakaway leagues and tournaments which may well be some way off yet but not inevitable

"UEFA have a zero tolerance policy on Racism in Football"

"UEFA have not revealed whether they will be investigating the matter"

Fuck me sideways.

There will be shed loads of this from now on.

Football is the new political football and until supporters are all wearing those silly clapping hats cheering on NMW players who give all their wages to charity it's not going to change any day soon.

Shock horror there is racism in the Ukraine and Poland.

Every fuckin' day there's a new slant on racism in football and it's getting tiresome we need to stop highlighting football and it's supporters up as frothing racist xenophobic social barometers.

Arrest the people shouting chants and just get on with it without a fuss.
