Sterling is considered a shoe-in for England, regardless of how many games he would get for us between now and the World Cup.

I'd argue his motivation, mainly coupled with his contract situation, would not give City the player we actually need him to be next season, either side of that tournament.

Should he decide to see out his final year, of course.
Depends if he wants a big move despite seeing out his deal. If that's the case he might show up like a lot of players do playing for a move. As long as it benefits us it's good. I'm sure Pep won't allow passengers in the side.

Are you aware of any chop date by the club regards the contract offer being withdrawn?

Raheem isn't likely to be starting for City if he doesn't agree to stay, but knows this won't impact his England call-up.

He doesn't need to show up for us before the tournament and can avoid taking unnecessary risks as a result, ahead of the World Cup.

If he smashes it at the World Cup, he writes his own cheque and, unless someone was desperate enough to then jump the queue in January, would have five months to manage.

Not a question of professionalism, just the reality he doesn't need to take risks if he knows he has options next year.

If he moves to Chelsea or another club this summer, I would respect it greatly, because it would clearly be football over a very big pay day.

Which has been his stance during the contract impasse.

Interesting quote from someone in the club in the mirror this morning. ‘City are not overly reluctant to let the forward depart as Guardiola intends on giving Cole Palmer more opportunities next season. The academy graduate is said to be impressing the City staff and they are ‘marvelled at his progress’.’

It’s clear to me that City sees Palmer as the next mancunian in the first eleven. Think the ”prodigy” spot will be Mcatee’s next season.

Disappointing if true. Palmer may have potential but he’s currently a huge downgrade on Sterling and we’d be weaker with him in the side instead of Sterling.

It’s a shame we seem to be losing one of our best forwards now we finally have a proper striker who’d thrive on finishing what Sterling creates.

So he will sign a contract here if he receives an increase to his current wage?
