H
We've had a good run with him and he has resale value as he's only 27.
To get 7 years out of him and sell at a profit however slight is good business.

Thanks for the memories but the club doesn't stand still, wish him well with his new club.
His ‘book value’ with amortisation is probably close to zero given how long he has been here.
Even £40m is a huge accounting profit.
More than that - and I would expect £50m plus extras given their desperation for a statement and the fact Boehly rather than Marina is negotiating - well, that would be pure gravy

So curious to see what the club does

Jesus leaving isn't a deal with Haaland and Alvarez joining

Having BOTH Raz and Gabby leaving if a different proposition

I don't think we NEED a replacement, but id be very very surprised if we don't directly try to replace Raz

If we are losing Sterling and Jesus and don’t deliver a top quality replacement for one of them we have weakened our squad.
We just signed Haaland and Alvarez. Haaland is elite...

The squad from our title winning season will change like this:

Haaland>Gabby
Alvarez>Raz
Phillips>Fern

Plus, if we sign Cucurella we are a senior man up from last season.

We get a top 3 striker in world football, an exciting and versatile attacker with brilliant numbers(who can also effectively cover for Haaland unlike last seasons squad), a prime midfield general, and if Cucurella comes off, a natural LB for the first time in years.

Even if Alvarez doesn't hit the ground running, Palmer showed more than enough at the start of last season to step up. I'd say we are in fantastic shape.

I’m apparently banned from the glory thread. Can someone tell me how long that’s effective?

This seems all but done. Gl to the lad. Hope to see cucu lock him up next year.

City have known for a while that Sterling might leave. The club has also known for a while that Jesus was VERY likely to leave.

If we don’t sign a winger, it’s not for lack of planning. It’s because we’re betting on Palmer (or other), or we don’t think there’s a suitable replacement on the market (or both).

This isn’t an instance of lack of ability to pivot / improvise. It’s been known.

I did say it might be a load of bollocks :-)

Just needed to vent. I'll probably delete it in a few hours.

Still wouldn't swap Pep for anyone, fwiw.
Yeah, a load of bollocks as you say. Very disrespectful toward Mahrez. I don't get it when a poster defends a player by downing another. FYI, Pep rates Mahrez extremely highly and Mahrez earns only a third of Sterling's wages.
