Synthetic cream is also an anagram of Manchester City. I got that one from a Times or Telegraph crossword years ago.

City were established in 1880 as West Gorton St Marks

They became Ardwick in 1887, and Manchester City FC in 1894

In 1957-58, City famously scored 104 and conceded 100 goals in finishing 5th. It was an expensive season for City, as they had just installed new nets and had to replace them at the end of the campaign.
