I should rephrase that, I should have said meant little to the players. You are right, as fans we never want to lose to our rivals, if we played each other at Tiddlywinks we'd be demanding a win lol.

Probably should ask this on the Celtic thread, but what do you think needs improved, player and position wise for you guys? I'm not sure how easy it will be for you guys to improve, because the first XI is pretty good (for our level), and as you seen yesterday, it's hard for those behind them to come in and get up to speed and perform straight away.
We need another LB CB and a winger who can dribble and cross, Abada can’t. A replacement for Turnbull as I think he will move on, he’s too slow to play Angeball. Our defence is good with first picks and yesterday showed those who came in need to up their game, but it woukd be unfair to single them out, our two best players in midfield were utterly shit too. Just one of those days.

I don’t think even if we won yesterday Ange thought for a moment he had it solved. Yesterday underlined that and he will have access to probably the largest budget ever in my time watching Celtic. We have money from Frimpong coming, if Christie moves on from Bournemouth we have money there too, same with Armstrong. We will get money from sales of Turnbull, Welsh, Barkas, Ajeti, maybe Abada too.

We also have £50m+ already in the bank. A minimum of £25-30m from the CL that and our new Adiddas shirt will bring in a few million too. Yesterday was no surprise, I knew we were fucked from the off. Too many changes. Missed two great chances. Kyobashi gifted two goals that CCV would have done better. Fuck I could have done better from my couch half cut.

Over the last 25 years, our best responses occur after we make a **** if it. O’Neil after Barnes. Rogers after Ronnie. Ange after Lennon. We are still the best team, but as you said, that’s here. Ange knows, as every fucking dug in the street, that for the CL we need to add more talented players. That’s always been the case, in the past we either couldn’t or wouldn’t invest. That won’t happen this time. We could spend £40m and still be about £40m in the black. It’s all about the money. And thankfully we have some. You just ensured we spend it. Thanks for that. :)

You're £50M in the bank already includes your Champions League money according to Lawwell, and as he points out most a lot of the incoming is done in the first part of the season, so the end of season figures tend to be lower.

Saying that, you still are managed much better than us off the park as well, and will have a massive advantage there.

As I mentioned before, I still think there's a glass ceiling of players we can attract to our league and wages we can pay. And your already at the upper limit of form domestically, so it's not like you can make much improvement in terms of results there.

We just need to concentrate on improving ourselves. It's not like we've been shocking domestically, we're on for a 90+ point season ourselves, despite the turmoil.

Thought Ange recruitment was spot on though? Were 9 of that team not Ange signings?
Just for balance, your team had way more appearances this season than the team we put out.

Do agree though, the game meant little to you. Mentally for us it was important we won, was important going into next season we had a win over you and break any psychological issues, but that was about it really.

As an aside, was nice to see Raskin and Cantwell playing well, 2 Beale signings and who the team will be built around you'd imagine. It's our forward line that needs overhauled so he needs to get that right. Kent, Morelos, Roofe, Colak all out yesterday and not the answer, and neither are Matondo and Sakala that played.
How many players do you think Rangers still need.Looks like to me they still have a massive rebuilding job to do.
Not every signing will work but they are still needing more than a couple of signing's a season to be good to improve or Celtic will have it easy for the next few years despite being nothing more than decent.
I never watched the game but how did young McCrorie play.He looked decent against the sheep. Is he ready for the first team or are they nowhere near getting a replacement for McGregor.

No, the accounts show what we have. This tears CL money isn’t included, it can’t be. We hadn’t qualified and you don’t get it up front before 31st March because you’re looking good for the title.

I’m happy the way we are heading and another Treble just underlined that. When you won the league that’s all you managed.

Read the article. The £50M in the bank was the accounts for the 6 months up to Dec 2022.

"Lawwell did strike a word of caution for the next set of results, however, predicting losses due to a handful of factors. He continued: “In line with the seasonality inherent in our earnings profile, the second half of the financial year will see losses incurred, as our earnings are biased toward the first half of the financial year. These losses however will be in part mitigated by gains on player trading realised from the January 2023 transfer window along with greater revenue from operating activities than was previously anticipated. The bias in earnings towards the first half of the financial year reflects the fact that UEFA distributions and UEFA match ticket income are largely recognised in the first half of the financial year and as in previous years, the second half of the financial year typically sees lower retail sales. Our outturn earnings can also be materially impacted by football success and the year end assessment of player registration carrying values. Taking all of this into consideration, we would expect our total outturn profit before tax for the year ending 30 June 2023 to be significantly lower than the result posted for the first six months of the financial year."

I read it. It will still be the biggest budget we have had. Sell a couple of players, get money from Frimpong and we can’t grumble. Lawell does give me the fear though. He’s a dithering, stingy, no forward planning, let’s wait and see ****, who was the bane of my existence for his fucking entire tenure. So, I may develop a twitchy eye, but hope he’s kept in a fucking cupboard out of the way,

Yeah, there will be a massive turnaround benny, Beale has already stated as much. Out of contract alone are McGregor, Davis, Arfield, Kent, Morelos, Helander and Jack. I'd imagine they might offer Jack and Arfield new 1 or 2 year deals.

Can't see the likes of Davies, Barasic, Kamara, Matondo, Sakala, Hagi, Colak, Roofe being in the first XI either, so think they would listen to any offers for them.

McCrorie done quite well, although he would need to work on his kicking, as that was pretty poor. I wouldn't be surprised if he's 2nd choice next season, as I think we are close to agreeing deals with Jack Butland, Kieran Dowell and the boy Dujon Sterling from Chelsea, so the rebuild is already starting.

You are probably talking about needing something like this, and that's just in terms of the starting XI.

New Gk
Tavernier
Goldson
New CD
Yilmaz

Raskin
New CM

New LW
Cantwell
New RW

New CF

Obviously there's guys like Souttar, Jack, Lundstrum, Lawrence when he comes back from injury can take up some of these positions if needed.

Souttar was brilliant for Hearts but the last few seasons the injuries have caught up with him.
I would be surprised if he ever gets a full season again.
A shame because I rated him highly.
The quality of the Old Firm players has dropped dramatically now when I think back to the eighties in the Hearts signings.
Sandy Jardine,Sandy Clark,Derek Ferguson,Dave McPherson,John Colquhoun,Roddy McDonald all great signings back in the day who were great for us.

I see that Roger Mitchell, a former SPL chief executive wants Eilidh Barbour sacked from her position at Sky Sports for daring to suggest that Rangers have bragging rights over Celtic.

Sacked …….? Just wow…..

You canny be sacked for just being a Rangers fan going all hype and delusional. We just laughed our arses off. Rangers win fuck all, we win or can win the Treble, rangers win one and Beales Mole gets its own talk show, about how great he is and how the elite better watch out with they two Provident cheques you found stashed under the carpet of the Blue Room, it’s spend spend spend. Welcome to Scotland, where every Gers win is the best win ever.

isn’t she a st johnstone fan?

Remember Roger Mitchell used to run Scottish Football. Absolutely frightening!

I see Rod Petrie is stepping down and Mike Mulraney is taking his place.

This will be ……’fun’

The funny thing is they think there is a conspiracy against them

Read this morning Van Veen has agreed terms with Groningen, I thought you lot would have made a move for him. After a couple of goals the papers here would have his value rocket to over £30m. Surprised and if I’m honest, glad you didn’t. Well worth a punt.

Absolutely nowhere near good enough.

No sell on value

Doesn’t improve the squad never mind first XI

As for the media. Only Peters Puppets do that for your mob. Kyogo to Real lol

Groningen were just relegated from the Eredivisie so he's viewed as part of the rebuild.

He’s 32 so they better hope it’s a quick rebuild.

Looking at his career the couple of years at a struggling Motherwell was as good as it got for him.

Kent away to Fenerbahce is a strange sideways move.

Seemingly signing Sam Lammers to replace Kent. Seems about right as his ‘numbers’ are disappointing to say the least. Lads got to be given a chance but our support are not known for their patience!

He's had a poor season in an even poorer Sampdoria campaign. Looked to have found his feet when he had that great season with Heerenveen, back in 2018-19, but he's been around the houses since and looked out of place everywhere. Maybe he will hit a purple patch for you, but I would imagine it will be the palest of lilacs.

I wasn’t happy with Beales appointment. His comments regarding the then Rangers manager GVB were not the comments I expect from a future Rangers manager!!

He benefited greatly from being able to play centre backs where GVB had been forced to play Sands and young King

Anyway I’ve been pleased with Cantwell and Raskin. Butland is a huge upgrade on an ageing McGregor and a bang average McCrorie. The rest is up in the air. We desperately need a clinical , hard working striker.

Next season in a winning team I expect to see more of Matondo. I realise he’s been poor but I think a lack of confidence and a poorly performing team didn’t help him.

Beale has made it clear he doesn’t have room for Colak but he is the best finisher at the club. I’d keep him but not a popular view at Ibrox.

Sakala is a strange one. His numbers are very decent but at times he’s like a headless chicken then next minute with his pace he’s unplayable. Too inconsistent to be a starter but could be an excellent impact sub

As I said I’m not convinced with Beale but at the same time I don’t think that other mob are anywhere near as good as Peters Puppets would have you believe. It should be a lot tighter League race this season. Hopefully it’s their time to suffer the devastating injuries and we get a wee break here and there.

I hate Peter. Always have. I was gutted when the arsehole returned. Now I’m hearing he’s trying to scupper the Rogers deal, to get his Man City pal the gig. He drives me mental. A cheapskate, dithering, egomaniac ****. And the majority of us feel the same. We want Rogers in and Lawell chased.
