£11m made from Jadon Sancho's transfer to United.

We've also retained all the players that were deemed 'unhappy' and they've all started the season excellently and seem content with no major fusses from any of them so far.

I'm giving it a 7; Grealish was a great signing and we didn't lose anyone we didn't want to lose. Can't put it higher because we needed a striker and didn't get one, hopefully our attackers on the peripheral can make up the numbers; mainly Jesus and Torres. I like some of the loans we've done too. Left back still a problem that needs fixing but Cancelo and Zinchenko are more than good enough to fill in.

Some good extensions, a very solid buy, a decent prospects and good loans for the kids. Keeping Bernardo and Laporte is massive.

monumental striker fuck up. I’d have liking a mobile 6 in bissouma or kamara.

So a 6.

If 5 is average then it's a 3 for me (mid-way between disaster and average). We needed to address 3 problem areas, the striker position being the most important. We failed to address any of those three areas and so I certainly can't rate it as average or above. Grealish was a good signing and it's great to see him settle so quickly and have an almost immediate impact. However, it doesn't cover over the fact that we didn't bring in a striker.

I went 8. Most of what I wanted I got.
  • I wanted the "Sterling on the left wing" problem fixed. Done.
  • I wanted to keep Bernardo in the center because he's awesome there. Done.
  • I wanted to keep Laporte so it's rare that 2 great CB can't play. Done.
  • I didn't want to spend a ludicrous amount on Kane. Done.
  • I still wanted a striker. Kane preferably if the money wasn't too silly. Not done.
  • I wanted a better LB than Mendy. Not done.

6

Positives:

Added Grealish to the squad that won Prem and made CL final. So strengthened just about enough to keep us in title contention. Kept hold of Laporte, Bernardo Silva and Jesus (all 3 have reminded us of their quality over past 2 games).

Negatives:

No striker (tough market), no left back (poor excuse, easily doable and there was a good option re; Nuno Mendes, our only out and out left back is in jail, others are makeshift options, not bad, but Zinchenko aside not reliable long term), and no Defensive Midfielder (fair enough Rodri is set for now and Ferna can over, any injury to former however and it could be a very long season, could have been pro-active in recruitment there as well).

Agreed. You convinced me on the score
