After two years in charge of our great club how would you rank Roberto's progress?
I personally think he's changed the mentality of this football club, there seems to be a winning mentality ingrained into our players for the first time since the seventies and the football we're playing is absolutely incredible, he deserves extra credit for the football due to the stick he took last season for being 'negative'.
In the transfer market I believe he has been very intelligent, the signings of David Silva, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero in particular have transformed the football club, the most he has spent on any one player (if you believe the media) is £35m for Kun which in my eyes, is good buisness. In fact the only player you can really say he's overspent on in his time at City was the £16m he spent on Aleksandar Kolarov whilst the signings of David Silva and Mario Balotelli for £24m and £21m respectively have proved to be fantastic bits of buisness. So with all this in mind I'll give him 8/10 in the transfer market.
Working with the players he had when he arrived has also see him do a very good job, I think Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards, Vincent Kompany, Joe Hart, Carlos Tevez and Gareth Barry have all improved as footballers under Mancini, becoming more tactically aware and consistent players, whilst the likes of Lescott and Richards have brushed out the mistakes that used to let them down. 9/10 for this on my part.
As a disciplinarian he has proved that he takes no crap from any of his players no matter there reputation, the way in which he ruthlessly binned fan favourites like Craig Bellamy and Nedum Onouha, whilst also moving on the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Robinho for failing to adapt to Mancini's philosophies have served the club well in the long term. Again I'll give him 8/10 for this.
Finally on the pitch since shaping his own squad in the summer of 2010 he has ended the 35 year wait for a trophy and delivered Champions League football in his first full season, proving his tactical nous and ability as a manager, this season so far speaks for himself with the only thing going against him our early exit from the Champions League, which, I'm certain in the long term will be rectified, on the whole I think he deserves 9/10.
In total I'd rank his time in charge of City since the 19th of December 2009 as 8/10, he has delivered so far, in what has been one of the most important eras of the clubs
history.
Forza Mancini
