Not sure Pep has ever really had genuine defensive fullbacks, Alves, lahm, Raphina, Alaba, etc

Lahm was absolute class and an excellent defender, so Pep played him in midfield! Alaba could defend well too. Walker is probably the most defensive full back he has had, which is odd because he played quite an attacking role at Spurs with Rose at LB and is reliant on his pace in pretty much all defensive situations.

Abidal was probably the best defensive fullback Pep has had, although Walker’s right up there

not odd, hes just not that great on the ball

He is good enough to be more of an attacking threat. He got 6 assists for spurs the season we signed him then the same for us. Overlapping the winger and then playing it across goal largely, nothing complicated. There are plenty of times he could do that for City, or does burst forwards, he just seems to always check back and play it safe rather than attempt anything more creative.
