He’s a very good example of how overpriced many PL players are. Came to the PL for 10m, hasn’t improved one tiny bit and suddnely he’s 45m. I’d rather bring back Delph

The risk of them failing doesn’t sit with us - it sits with Brighton and Wolves.

With respect, we’re not competing at the same level as those clubs anymore. We’re trying to win the League and the Champions League every season.

If we take a risk and it fails, we risk losing out on the biggest prizes football has to offer.

If Wolves or Brighton buy a dud, it’s not going to be the difference between winning a League title or finishing with nothing. It has an impact, sure - but it’s not the same.

It’s all about risk - it’s not complicated.

That’s why Mendes does what he does at Wolves - to bring players into the PL and de-risk them for the bigger clubs, selling on those that work for a much bigger fee.

Clubs like us reward others for taking the risks we can’t afford to by paying more than they did for the same players.

Brighton and Cucurella is a great example. He was a risk when they bought him - he isn’t now. So we’ll end up paying Brighton for taking the risk on him.

That’s how football has always worked.

Exactly. He’s literally just turned 21. Decent player for me. Bit too early for a big move but another year or two and he’ll be sold on to a big club if he continues developing….

I agree that the quoted price is ridiculous but I think he has improved his game, both defensively and offensively, at Wolves.

That’s a very good point mate.

I’ve always thought Gaya at Valencia looked a special player whenever I’ve seen him, and they’re in the shit financially.

I’d imagine we could get him for a decent price if we was open to leaving Spain.

When was the last time you watched Gaya because I think he has been going backwards. There is a reason why nobody else is interested. Plenty of clubs out there looking for a LB and not a single decent link to any of them.
 
I really like this guy. I've often wondered about City signing him but presumed he was considered below our level. If Pep feels he's coachable (which to be fair he does seem like) then it could be a bargain.
 
It depends on Wolves' valuation. If they are asking for similar to what Brighton wants for Cucurella we can forget it.
