If Darts is a sport, then so is shove ha'penny.

Don't think Halfpenny on this board will be too happy about getting shoved!!!!

Agree with BB here (for a change!). It's a pastime when you go down the pub, it's not a sport.

The same could be said for Archery, and that is called a sport.
What you and i play at home is a pastime.
What the pro`s produce under the spotlight
could not be further from this.
Try getting 90+for 3 darts over 5 sets

You're entitled to your opinion, just as I'm entitled to mine. We're not going to agree, so there's no point us slagging each other off. We'll agree to differ. O.K?

It's BECOME a sport because big money and huge publicity is now involved ..... whereas in a pub you'd play for fun on most occasions ....... and where money is involved , there's usually fierce 'professional' competiton ...... so they now label it a sport.

It's also become big business that's now screened on tv , whereas once upon a time you'd have no chance of watchin' darts on the telly ....... in reality it's a pastime , a hobby , a bit like fishing which i've also seen labelled a 'sport' at times .

By labelling darts a 'sport' .... they know they'll attract a viewing audience from masses who probably wouldn't normally play or watch the game otherwise , as i myself do with golf , in addition to the usual dedicated darts fans ....... it's all in the head really.
