Absolutely. Not as aggressively as we might do against lesser team like Arsenal, Liverpool, or United, but there is very little benefit to keeping Walker back all the time, as Vinicius will just stay closer to our goal.

A lot of the reason Walker was able to pocket him in Madrid last season was because he gave him plenty of room to run, which Kyle is actually best at defending. The last thing you want is for Kyle to have to do only 1v1 over 15 yards.

If we want to leave Vinicius up by our goal, we need to play Akanji on that side.

He has been playing very well so i appreciate that but the petulant side has to stop, getting booked for it two games running is trying my patience

You ever consider it to be gamesmanship? Don’t get me wrong he’s no Granit Xakha, but players will do that in games to ruffle a few feathers, get in the refs ear, waste a bit more time, slow the game down. He’s one of the most fouled players in the league, he’s gonna get pissed off every now & then

i feel pep may opt for more defensive defender then walker i hope not we need to be attacking! we have to make our chances pay we cant afford to be wasteful

true vinicius can catch him but he is one tricky little guy over 15 years thats when he will have the advantage over walker if its a long run walker wins all day

if we can put it to bed in the first legs take alot of pressure in the league it would not be ideal having to go to goodison with madrid on the back of our mind

Also wanted to say we baited them to counter on that side many, many times last year, and it lead to very few chances, and opened up the pitch for us to attack (and if we had taken our chances, they would have not been able to mount the comeback).

It was when Walker had to go off and Fernandinho moved over, staying mostly in our own half, allowing Vinicius to take him on 1v1 over short distances (easily knocking the ball by him several times, including for their goals), that we collapsed.
