The reason for not officially recognising him and the others including, Thomas Tobin who also died, is that they were training the Oman forces against the Soviet backed communists. They weren't supposed to provide anything other than training, but ended up leading the defence against the soviets. If we can rightly tear down the statues of slave traders, then we can honour the two lads who gave it their all.

However we are the nation who won't even pay Gurkha vets a decent pension.......... the lack of respect that authority has for ex-service personnel has always repulsed me.

Government, MOD and the Civil Service have allowed it to become a national disgrace.
