Im having to upgrade to a new 2TB Sky+ HD box...but i will lose all that i have recorded.

Can anyone point my in the direction of how to transfer these records?

The ideal would be to get them onto the new box, but i doubt that will be possible. I have a laptop and external hard drive so can transfer them to that.

Ive seen this, but various forums give mixed reports...

I think your out of luck, I don't believe it can be done to be honest.

One way it can be done is with a DVD recorder. So you play the recorded program on the tele and record it onto the DVD recorder as if it were a program on tele. You've then got it on disc which you can watch on your DVD recorder.
Alternatively you could get a cheap old video and do the same although I expect the quality would be compromised.
My satellite box has a SATA hard drive which I can swap when I swap boxes, no idea of this is an option ?
I can connect my box to the router then access it via any computer on the network and FTP files to my computer. Is this an option ? Have you tried any forums as they are usually very helpful.

I've got a Panasonic DVD recorder (DMR-EX95VEBS) which also has a larger hard drive than the sky boxes plus VHS and DVD play and recording facilities.

I can play recorded sky programmes on my sky box and record them on my Panasonic hard drive or back up to DVD discs.

Not sure (or confident) about swapping the drive in the box...

So i should be able to transfer to a DVD recorder? Which socket on the Sky box do i run it from?

Its not a file transfer of data, but conventional playing your programmes on your sky box, connected via scart socket to a DVD recorder and recording them. Personally I have saved many of my Sky programmes to my hard drive but its a long process. My Pansonic hard drive has about 3 times more capacity than my Sky box so this enabled me to free space for more recordings on my Sky box.
