Red light very constant, fan going, and PC slowing down?

Whats the cause of this??, seems to of happened just recently,
Its not all the time but its getting very regular, I'm sure i read on here its something to do with to much memory being used on the hard drive?
Any help or technical knowledge on this matter would be appreciated fella's?

that happened to me blew the power box and scared the shit outta the dog

Somethings running that shouldn't be, how do i find out what programs are running in the background if any?

Ctrl Alt Del, then in the tabs at the top click Processes.
