Does the name Quasimodo ring a bell?

Reminds me. A friend recommended a book but couldn't remember the title precisely. He said it was a sort of play on words with Pavlov's dogs and Schrodingers Cat.

I asked about it in Waterstones. The assistant said it rings a bell but she wasn't really sure if it existed or not.
