Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

One more thought on the 'penalty' decision at the end.

Salah hadn't been trying to con the ref by diving and appealing for a penalty every chance he got. Maybe that added a bit of doubt into the ref's mind, so they got what they deserved - nothing.
I said the same in work yesterday.
If Salah wasn't trying it on every time he went into the box then maybe, just maybe he gives that against Doku

That’s when you should start questioning your own sanity!
I’m of the opinion Spit is smarter than we think he knows fuck all can be done about the penalty so he comes out with this “balanced rhetoric shite” …… casting himself as a good pundit and arming his defence of not being bias ….. I’m not falling for it ……. Twat

It still looks to me that he ran straight at Doku, looking for the contact. At no time does he appear to attempt to play the ball. In fact, not one part of his body looked shaped to play it.
Very smart of him tbf because once Doku let it bounce he seized at the chance. If he'd gone in with his head he'd have won the penalty.

It is 100% coached. Same with the Rag's, and they are lauded for it. Cheating SCUM.

Indeed. I think we once got two pks in a game v Everton ( poss Pelegrini last season/ Peps first) and IIRC we missed them both. Rags n Dips don't. But amazing but not really such a shyte team get 2 pks in one game.

Anyway onto Arse pks now....

He saw the high foot and launched himself at the boot, Klopp inspired dark arts, why he will be no loss to the league

They will be boiling piss about the lack of penalties given to them today. Blaming the refs trips to ref in the UAE. (Which he's stopped)

I thought OliVAR's learned from his shit show last time and his experience showed today. He let the game flow. Alti or Tierney would have killed that as a spectacle.
I think it was down to last week's Forest fiasco. I did post that the publicity around that might work in our favour. Seemed hard to envisage beforehand, but I am fairly convinced it was a factor.

I did think the same being honest.

Liverpool gifted 2 wins in 2 weeks by the refs wouldn't have gone down well with everyone but the ferals.

Watched a League 1 game last night and the referee (Scott Oldham) was surprisingly good. A couple of minor issues, but nothing that affected the outcome of the match. He should have played on after a foul in the first half, and he missed an obvious drag back late on in the second half. Having said that, the players were pretty honest and not trying to con him at every opportunity which I think is half the problem in the PL.

Said it before, referees do a very difficult job and are promoted through the ranks based only (I hope) on competence. We have seen in the last couple of weeks that they can referee fairly. So if players conning the referee is only half the problem in the PL, what can the other half of the problem be, I wonder?

Interesting that Webb seems to have had a huge promotion drive of new refs this season compared to others.

I'm a bit confused after the Doku incident Sunday.

We all think that the referees are on Liverpool's side and give decisions at the drop of a hat (or a Salah). That was a perfect opportunity to screw us over with a late penalty and contribute the to Klopp send off party.

For me (with my blue tinted specs) I reckon Doku played the ball and tried to pull out. If the referee and VAR team were so pro Liverpool surely they could have sent Oliver to the monitor?

It's as if an actual conspiracy isn't real :)

Double ditto. A second favourable decision in time added on to added on time in consecutive games is not a good position to defend. At the time I didn't even think there would be a VAR review but I am biased

And it would have been the second consecutive match the bottler would have screwed us over against the dippers at Klanfield!

So it isn't obvious and they are trying to hide it?
