Ref Watch City Games - 2023/24

My wife couldn't believe how many times he got in the way of our play.

I know,

I was watching with a mate and I was like "am I imagining it or does he seem to be stood right in the path of where we could be passing to another player?"

Poor positioning

François Letexier, ref in the first leg is 34, the twat last night is 48. He couldn't keep up with the game in the first half let alone extra time. Shocking performance in such a high profile game, I think at least twice he gave a goal kick to Madrid before changing his mind to give us a corner and when their keeper tipped a ball over at the South Stand end which I could see from the other end he again gave them a goal kick but this time didn't change his mind. I won't start on his shit time keeping and his lack of game understanding over Madrid's cheating antics which he let them get away with.

That's the difference age 48 isn't old but he missed a lot maybe he needs glasses or contacts if hasn't got them he was poor and not savvy and being an Italian referee you'd thought he would recognise players cheating diving?! Unless he sees so much of it in Italian league he thinks it's part of the game! Uefa brings in rules on spending grass length but can't be arsed to clamp down on cheating time wasting!

Just checked, in the second period of extra time play was stopped for 2 mins 15 seconds from 108:10 to 110:25; there were also 2 or 3 other stoppages. So the minimum is 3 or 4 minutes. How the fuck can he justify adding ONE minute? He was a **** all night, gave uefa exactly what they wanted

Just checked -

2 mins 15 secs for first stoppage

35 seconds for Kovacic and Stones comin on

25 seconds for when he stopped play and confused everyone by awarding a free kick to both tesms

30 seconds when Gvardiol and one of their cunts went down

That’s 4 minutes for which we got 1, in 15. Equate that across 120 minutes snd add in their general diving, time wasting and other shit housery and associated disruption - we were robbed of 15 to 20 minutes easy

Tell you what, that bald fucker from last years final wouldn’t have fell for that Madrid shit last night
Which is why he probably wasn't picked.

The French lad last week reffed it fairly and it added to the spectacle. This ref was the opposite.

A complete twat who fell for every single bit of shithousery from them, the complete opposite of the first leg ref.

Only issue was whoever it was not getting booked for belting Foden in the thigh

On RAWK he’s been given the name of Abu Dhabi Oliver. lol

We obviously played pretty poorly, and were fortunate to face an absolutely shite Chelsea side, but Oliver and his assistants did not help matters at the end.

Apart from VAR not giving the penalty—which I think was the correct call—there were some truly bizarre (in)decisions that favoured Chelsea and an extreme amount of leniency.

Both Caicedo and Enzo should have been sent off. Who knows, perhaps he was worried about the blowback of not giving Chelsea the penalty so was trying to make it up at the end.

Still a very odd performance overall.

Not sure either team will be overly happy with him today. From our point of views we must be feeling caicedo has license to do whatever he pleases against us. Did it in the league, and did it again today.

No yellow for booting Foden in the knee. Yellow for the next challenge, then no yellow for the next one which was probably the worst of the lot.

Oliver also suffers from the affliction of giving us play on when we have no advantage. Why? Because we're Man City and apparently we want possess always, even if the player was taken out and we're temporarily down to ten, heading backwards, and being closed down.

Then he books Alvarez for not retreating from a free kick, only to not book Palmer for the same thing literally twenty seconds later, or in fact any other player at all for doing it on the game thereafter, despite both sides doing it. Bizzare performance.

Also an unusually high number of decisions given the wrong way from deflects etc. Were the officials not talking to each other? Was a high chance that game could have been settled by a goal from a corner or throw in which was given the wrong way.

Even when we have the so-called advantage after staying on our feet following a bookable foul we get neither free kick when the advantage comes to nothing nor the booking. The real advantage comes from a free kick AND a fuckin' booking so that the perpetrator might just think twice before laying into one of our main men next time he needs to challenge. There are plenty of hatchet men still plying their trade in the PL and when they turn up to play us they know they can have a couple of solid hacks at Kev or Phil with the knowledge that the second booking will only appear in their next game.
